“newly remodeled stone and timber 1930's beach building”
The newly remodeled stone and timber 1930's beach building offers many visitor services including a seasonal restaurant serving a variety of foods, a lake observation deck, bathhouse, and restrooms. The beautiful lodge has been converted back into a restaurant which opened mid-summer. Enjoy the view of the lake and the excellent food when you come visit Lake Wapello State Park. Beach users can purchase snacks and refreshments as well as bait and tackle at the concession area of the building. Lake Wapello's beach offers opportunities for swimming and sunbathing. Refreshments are available at the beautiful stone and timber bathhouse. Boats may be rented at the concession area. Any size of boat motors may be operated at "no wake" speeds on the lake.

Ratings Summary
This state park is definitely a hidden gem among the state parks we have visited this year. The sites are well maintained. Half the sites have a fantastic view of the lake. Ours was nice but for our next stay I’ll be shooting for site 49 or 50 which have even better views.
Restrooms look new - didn’t use them so I can’t say for certain but I would guess they are clean and nice based on outward appearance. Dump station, water points to fill up water cans if you need more fresh water. There are sites with full hookups but I didn’t get a list of those. There is a playground for young kids. There’s a very nice walking path that follows the lake and paved roads for bike riding. There’s are piers to go out on to fish and boat landing with trailer parking. Supposedly there’s a fantastic beach on the premises but we didn’t venture out to look at it.
The park is very quiet at night with little artificial lights to take away from star gazing. For us, quiet sites with good lake views and calming atmosphere are very important. This park checks off all boxes.
