Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on May 04, 2023We love this location and definitely like that it’s free. We have camped here several times before and like the location relative to fishing on the Beaverhead and like that it’s fairly close to town. We camped here the second week of September 2018, and got overrun by bugs at dusk and mid morning. At least the bugs were of the non biting variety, but we filled up our van with about 300 of them before we realized what happened. Not the end of the world, and not like we’ve seen this here before, but just be aware. And for what it’s worth, the bugs seem to congregate under the roof of the picnic table structure, and they are very opportunistic when you pull up. Otherwise, great spot.

This is a free campground. There 3-4 shelters built over picnic tables. And they provide garbage and there is a water pump at each campground. This lake is treeless. There’s is a 14 day limit. I could not get cell service on consumer cellular. I checked out the other campgrounds around the lake and they are much the same. Lone tree had the most visitors!

I showed up later in the evening just before sundown and still found a spot. There are designated spots to camp each night with pit toilets and trash in each camping area around the lake. Since the land slopes gently towards the water, you'll want to find a way to level yourself. I'm in a van and don't typically carry leveling blocks so I stayed further away from the water/cliff and opted for a more level spot.
It was super peaceful and quiet when I was there. Gorgeous views.
Accessing the roads to each camping area is was easy. It's a dirt road off of the main road, but there were Class As, trailers, and vans all throughout.
I work on the road so having a data signal is key for me. I had Verizon data signal at 3 bars and boosted up to 5. I was able to stream a video that night too.

There were three lakeside spots. Pit toilets, fire rings, trash pick up and water. T-stormy and windy with tons of flying gnats under the picnic table enclosure. Dogs loved running along the beach. There were two other rvs here with boats, apparently good fishing. We also had good enough phone signal to stream Dish Network.

Clean bathrooms, trash cans, shaded and covered picnic tables we, water that runs in the summer, firings, boat ramp, and a beautiful view. If you don’t find a spot at this location, there’s plenty of spots around the lake to choose from.

This is such a nice location! 33 ft toy hauler and very comfortable space. Some spots have enclosed patios and all have picnic tables and fire rings. Also pit toilets. Clean clean and free! Full Verizon, trash cans, fire pits, and a manual water supply. The view was breathe taking and a lot of birds. Pelicans and ducks and fish jumping and the sound at night was so relaxing but still so quiet.

We stayed here 3 nights in late September, driving past the first 3 campgrounds on this reservoir, which were fairly full. When we got to this one, it was almost empty. We picked a site away from the lake... they had shelters, so we assumed that they were meant for tenters. Almost no one else here while we stayed. The only drawback was the Lakeflys. In swarms over your head, but are harmless. Many water birds including Loons and a Pelican.
Fantastic place and it's free!
