This is a quiet, big inn with history, which Mark, the owner, is proud to let you know about. Though it seems a little out of the way, it provides a good jumping-off point for lake excursions or fall color road trips. The breakfast was hearty and delicious. Mark is a British transplant, and he always wanted to have a country inn. He's gone to a lot of work to update the rooms, including a cozy dining room and elegant living room. He is quite anxious to make sure his guests are comfortable. You will be happy you chose the Brewster Inn.
My husband and I went to the Brewster in for a getaway for new years. Mark is so detail oriented and very obviously takes great pride in his business. Everything you could want as a guest he tried to take care of. Dexter is small so we were concerned about where to eat for New years, by the time we got there he had a reservation at a restaurant about 30 min away that had amazing food made from produce and meat from local farms (including eggnog pie for dessert). We stayed in the honeymoon suite. Beds are comfortable. Environment is clean. Breakfast was delicious. The first morning we had a warm sausage and egg casserole with toast/english muffins/bagels, cereal, oatmeal, juice, milk, coffee, and tea. The second morning we had the same except instead of the casserole we had a wonderful orange stuffed french toast. We loved the clean and comfortable updates made to the house but also enjoyed the bits of history that are hidden around the property. Very enjoyable and comfortable place to stay.
