America’s Thanksgiving Parade® is one of the country’s largest and most spectacular parades! Every November something magical happens on Detroit’s Woodward Avenue, a holiday tradition that dates back to 1924. Since then, 85 celebrations of America’s Thanksgiving Parade® have captured the imaginations of millions of children and their families. Description Heading into our 31st year in 2013... the Fifth Third Turkey Trot has become the largest foot race in the state of Michigan. Referred to as the "parade before the parade", the Fifth Third Turkey Trot 10K, Stategic Staffing Solutions Stuffing Strut 5K and the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Mashed Potato Mile have become a favorite holiday tradition in Detroit. General Information Registration is now open for the 2013 race. All finishers will receive awesome medals to celebrate their accomplishment.
