“One of the largest & finest theatrical houses in the country”
Detroit's Masonic Temple is the biggest in the world. It was built in 1912 by George D. Mason and has more than 1,000 rooms, including secret staircases, hidden passages, and even compartments hidden in the floors. Unfortunately, Mason may have gone a bit overboard building the temple, and when he went bankrupt his wife decided that she couldn't be married to a man who wasn't rich. Mason spiraled into a depression, and eventually jumped to his death from the temple's roof. To this day people say they see him ascending the stairs slowly towards the roof. Guests and staff also experience cold spots, strange shadows, doors opening and closing, and the overwhelming feeling of being watched. - Roadtrippers "The Masonic Theater is one of the largest and finest theatrical houses in the country and is on both the Michigan Historical Register and the National Register. It is both beautiful and a landmark. An ideal entertainment venue for music film, theater, and dance. The theater boasts a Grammy award and Academy award winning musical production team. With a 4,404 seating capacity, expanded backstage, instrument storage, a screen for film and other media presentations. The Theater’s dramatic interiors, comfortable seating and excellent acoustics ensure that the Masonic Theater will continue its legacy as one of the most prestigious and sought-after performances theaters in Detroit." - http://www.olympiaentertainment.com/venues/masonictemple.jsp
