Tangle Lakes Campground, located at MP 21.5 of the north side of the Denali Highway, is situated within the Delta Wild and Scenic River corridor and the Tangle Lakes Archaeological District boundary where over 10,000 years of human use have been documented. The campground provides 45 accessible campsites and 4 walk-in sites and is equipped with water pumps, toilets and a boat launch. Fees: $12/night for regular, $6/night for walk-in site. The campground rests amid a series of long, narrow lakes known as the Tangle Lakes that are connected by the Tangle River and form the headwaters of the Delta River. The boat launch provides access to the lakes and is also the designated put-in for the popular 30-mile Delta Wild & Scenic River float trip. The Tangle Ridge Hiking Trail (for non-motorized use only) extends out of the campground and provides a 360 degree view of the stunning landscape.

This is our favorite place to camp in the fall. For years we've drawn hunting tags for the Denali Highway to harvest caribou. This campground is in a prime location for lake/river fishing, berry picking, off roading, hunting, kayaking, photography, wildlife viewing, hiking.
It's boondocking but there is a well pump with potable water and trash cans.
It's a short walk to the river or lake for grayling fishing. The sites are large and many are pull throughs. There are tent sites with grass pads for cushion.
The cell service is always changing, right now ATT does not work but you have 5 bars of 3G Verizon coverage!
The Tangle Inn is just around the corner and offers home cooked meals, ice, showers, gas and liquor.
Keep in mind during the peak summer months the bugs can be thick, this is why we like staying here in the fall. We also regularly see the aurora here.

We spent two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the fishing. Better if u have a boat but we fished from shore and had a blast. Caught many graylings and even a lake trout. There’s also a hiking trail right from the campground. FCFS. Vault toilets clean and water was a hand pump that had to be really primed and was noisy. No firewood available when we were here. Many different sized campsites and many pull thrus also. We were there in late June and it got busy but never filled completely. There was not a camp host in place yet for the season so the fire pits were somewhat dirty from previous campers. Shame on them leaving small bits of trash in bear country.
