“hand made jams!”
Our "factory" is a one-time summer cottage located on Deer Isle, complete with white clapboards, window boxes and original pine paneling throughout the 15' x 25’ kitchen; plus a really tiny shipping room and a one-person office. In this absurdly small space we produce 300-350 jars of jam a day---pouring, capping and labeling each jar by hand, most weekdays from January to November. Nervous Nellie’s shares an idyllic pastoral setting with Peter Beerits Sculpture which is housed in a handsome old frame building that served as a general store in North Deer Isle in days gone by (old-timers remember getting penny candy there). Peter fabricates sculptures using native pine and the rapidly-disappearing metal artifacts of rural life. Dozens of sculptures, including several buildings comprise our sculpture village. And we have a small shop with carefully-chosen Maine handcrafts. Visit our online shop or, better yet, visit us in person.
I go to Nervous Nellie's every year to get a case of jam and this is a must see- not only are there free jams and jellies samples but beautiful sculptures by Peter scattered everywhere. Go here and plan to explore!
