“Dig into the past!”

Step into the Black Hills best underground mine tour and return to a time when the powerful punch of a miner’s pick and the roaring boom of another dynamite blast signaled the ongoing search for the richest veins of gold on Earth. Follow the path of ore cars deep underground into the century-old shafts of the Broken Boot. Walk in the footsteps of thousands of faceless miners who sought their fortunes in the dark and explosive atmosphere of black powder and candlelight. Visit the authentic Broken Boot Gold Mine, step into history and dig into the past. Tours every 30 minutes. Final tour departs at 5:30 pm.

Really interesting to get a glimpse at how mining used to happen. Gives you an appreciation for how dangerous it all really was.

As stated by another reviewing, if you're claustrophobic, you definitely will not like this place.

we had a lot of fun here in June. Don't bother doing the gold mining. I think I got like 2 flakes of gold for 7 dollars. The tour was worth it though. I went with an environmental science major so she was in heaven. The tour guide definetly knew his information.

I live near Greenwood, British Columbia ~ where there is also an abandoned town site and gold mine called 'Deadwood'. One of the world BIGGEST smelters in the later part of the 1800's. New Yorkers came and invested 1 million $ building this site. To be closed down with all others due to the drop in copper prices resulting from world war I. I have toured the one on the coast outside of Vancouver heading up to Whistler more then once... Barkley I believe it is called. But it has been awhile. There is ALWAYS so much to learn from these wonderful tours. It sends you away with such an appreciation for what it took to settle this land and bring us to the commerce and comfort we all experience today not matter how rich or poor you are. This is a time of abundance and and these sites are certainly abundant in history... thank you for making one more amazing historical place of significance.

Pretty cool to walk through a real mine. Our tour guide seemed a little bored but she had a ton of information. I mostly enjoyed the family with 4 young boys and one girl. They came out covered in graphite. Lol

Nice little stop off in Deadwood. Tour takes about a half hour. Only $5 per person pretty reasonable.
