“Hip vegan dining in Dayton”

Once an old Wympee drive-up burger joint, Olive, An Urban Dive is a quirkily designed vegetarian-friendly place with all locally sourced food. The Wympee sign is still out front, so you definitely won't miss this spot. The owner gutted and restored the interior, putting her own touch on the look, and opened in the summer of 2011.

At first Olive, An Urban Dive was a lunch joint, and eventually added brunch and dinner. Their motto is local over import, labor over convenience, and service over everything else. The food is seriously locally sourced. We chase chickens.. When we say free range, we mean it.

Olive's building is the last remaining old diner in downtown Dayton, Ohio. The owner has made sure her efforts to keep the building and the piece of local history alive has gone rewarded. Hence why they're still here.

Stop by Olive's on your birthday and get a kazoo serenade, or get a chance to try a flight of ice cream flavors for dessert.

Olive has a bring your own booze policy, so be sure to bring it. They are gluten free, paleo, vegetarian and vegan friendly!

PLEASE NOTE: Olive's kitchen is open for brunch Saturday 10 am to 3 pm, for lunch Monday through Friday 11 am to 3 pm, and dinner Thursday to Saturday 5 pm to 10 pm.
Closed Sundays.

Closing our little dive, after all the work and love that went into it, was one of the hardest decisions we ever had to make, but with a building we didn't own falling apart on the outside affecting business (with water pouring in from the roof throughout and not being able to open the patio this year because of loose enameled steel panels) and the employees dealing with health and safety concerns on a daily basis... we could not consciously keep operating in the building and couldn't get the permission from the owner we needed for building permits to fix things in time. All that and our lease renewal not yet secure, we decided to cut our losses and not sign for a new term.

So we're all moving on, each to create and use our talents in new ways, we'll miss the family we grew here and our Dayton community, but will always feel blessed for the time we were able to love folks and feed them good food. If you ever dined with us... thanks for being a part of our story!
