Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on August 01, 2022I want to like this campground, but it is not our idea of a relaxing peaceful camping experience. Unsuspecting first timers who don't know where to camp are going to be subjected to very loud music three nights a week for three or more hours. Luckily we were on Loon Point and barely heard the music. If you camp along Turtle Bay for a bit, and perhaps around the Athletic Field you will hear less of the music. But all the remaining campsites, about two-thirds of the campground is subjected to the noise/music. They have a DJ and live music Thursday - Saturday in the season. The quiet hour doesn't start until 10:30. In spite of this there are a fair number of seasonal campers and people who want to come here.
Most of the sites are wooded, but some sites are not shaded along the water or near the athletic field. The sites along the water tend to be very close together. You need to pick your site carefully. We had a nice site that had water views and was away from the music.
They allow a lot of people on one site, so depending on how close your neighbors are it could be noisy. This place is very popular with young people and families with children, because it is an RV resort with lots of amenities - pool, hot tub, game room, miniature golf, entertainment, beach, boats, etc. Parents allow their children to roam the campground and often children are riding bikes after dark, which makes it a bit of a challenge to take a walk in the evening.
The lake is a narrow finger about six miles long which provides a variety of places to paddle. It probably could be rather busy on the weekend with boat traffic. The lake is rather shallow and rocky in spots, so it you bring a boat with a motor, be very careful. Paddling may be a better option or bring a boat with a small motor.
Wifi is in a central location - the dance hall where they play music, so not a very inviting spot in the evening. We had okay cell at our site, but I am sure it varies from place to place in the campground.
You are several miles off of Route 1, but near to the lovely town of Damariscotta, shops, gas stations restaurants, and other wonderful places to visit - Pemaquid Light House, Coastal Botanical Gardens, Moody's Diner, Morse's Kraut House, sea kayaking, Bath and Brunswick.

The area surrounding this campground is a beautiful part of the Maine coast. Boothbay is very close, as well as other scenic Mid-Coast Maine towns. The campground itself is a little crowded. Excellent play areas for the kids, which is probably why there was such an abundance of children at this campground. The busyness makes for a fairly noisy day. However the kids seem to love it. Skateboard park, playgrounds, large field, tennis, basketball, and cornhole are just a few of the activities. Our campsite seemed to be on the larger size for this property. Enough room to set 31ft fifth wheel and 12x12 easy-up canopy, with room to spare. This site overlooks the large field and is close to the music venue, so it gets a little loud on certain evenings. However, this was not a surprise as the hosts did let us know about this when we reserved site. There was some trash in stone fire ring when we arrived, but I don't blame this on managers, more on the previous campers. I would recommend this campground, especially for the location.

Site 42 was very uneven and took some doing to get my trailer level. I was charged for 50 amp but the electric was at front of site and I couldn't reach it with my 30amp 25' cord. On the 2nd day I remembered that I had an extension cord so I plugged into the 20amp. The water was at the far back of the site and my 25 foot hose didn't reach the trailer. This is probably the most insane setup I've seen on my travels.
The campground is suitable for smaller RVs and tents but they allow very large RVs. One arrived to park across from me. If I hadn't been home he might have taken out my awning, sand mat, and possibly my trailer. I suggested he try from the other direction and he was able to back into the site without damaging anything else.
Cell service was nonexistent at times.
There's nothing to do unless you drive elsewhere. Pemaquid Point Lighthouse is a short distance away. Boothbay Harbor is about an hour away.
The positive points are the woman at checkin was very nice, clean showers, and a dishwashing sink.
