Great dispersed camping spot. Flat with plenty of room. Grab a map from the forest service as there is plenty of campsites along the road. No fires!!!
Occasional cow will wonder in to camp
ATV’s, UTVS will ride by as well as horses
Love this spot as it is close to a lot of the attractions in the black hills.
About 6 miles west of Custer.

Our car is very low to the ground so we were worried about being able to get to certain areas. This spot was beautiful and very quiet but also super accessible. Definitely recommend for newbies like us!

This sight is great. 1st it is big rig friendly. I have a 42 foot 5th wheel that I pull with a semi and when hooked up I am 68 feet long and 13.5 feet tall and I had no problems making it to the spot. There are a few ATVs that come up and down the road. I hooked up my wiboost and was able to get my verizon and tmobile signals up to 3 bars and was able to stream most of the time with that. I will be back to this spot.

So beautiful up here in the trees. We stayed near a couple other fulltime RV families. Plenty of room for multiple big rigs.
We saw a few cows, heard some elk and had some cowboys come through with their horses. Otherwise it was just a couple cars and ATVs. Pretty quiet evenings with beautiful views.
Cell service was lacking until we got close to our WeBoost. Then we were able to get a couple bars on AT&T. Verizon was still pretty much nonexistent.

Stayed Here 8/11 – 8/13/20. The drive in is beautiful (dirt road) and the view from our campsite overlooked the valley below. This is dispersed camping and there are a few different spots to camp in. There are no amenities. It was quiet and peaceful. We were able to fit two rigs in the spot we stayed in which was located on the downhill side of the road.

We were there on the night of March 1, and the snow made it somewhat difficult to travel North Pole Road. As a result, we stopped at the first site we saw. It was open (no trees), and had plenty of room for the RV, dolly, and toad. Great location to access Custer State Park and the rest of Black Hills. No cows, cowboys, or ATV's this time of year!

Stayed here on our visit to Custer State Park, Rushmore and hot springs, caves etc. Very good gravel road leads to numerous excellent sites. No facilities, but nice private spots with shade and fairly flat. Our 35' motorhome was easily accommodated. Quiet, very little traffic, and free!

We boondock exclusively and this was the oddest location we've ever been. There's tons of actual houses around, and being on top of the hill meant being in the wind the entire time. There was also a giant pile of human shit complete with toilet paper. We spent three days in fog here, followed by a pretty scary day with a tornado passing just East of us.
Internet is terrible across all providers. Not a place to come if you want to get work done. Plus it's kinda far away from all the things to do.
This was the first boondocking spot that we've ever abandoned for a campground.
