Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on July 12, 2021Gary and his wife were such wonderful, kind hosts. The property Gary has (just over 58 acres) is a mini park in itself! They have several small ponds on the property, one that you can paddle boat in. We took two daily walks/hikes around his property with our dog and he was in heaven - running free through the valley. The property borders the national forest and you can see Crazy Horse from the driveway! Great proximity to Custer State Park (13 min ~), downtown Custer (8min), Hill City (15 min) and Mt. Rushmore (20 min). Gary also has on site laundry which you pay in a coffee can, $2.00 per load and has clean bathrooms with showers. The site was full hookup and with the measly price of $30.00 and the property we never wanted to leave!
You are down a long drive so you don't hear any traffic noise, if anything Gary makes his rounds on the property on a 4-wheeler. They were truly so kind, making us feel very welcome. There is no where else we'd stay if we were back in the area.

We loved this campground. Gary was a great host & we really enjoyed his enthusiastic spirit. “Welcome to paradise!”
Site was level & hookups in good spot. We backed up to the forest & loved exploring the back property area. Paradise for sure.
Bathhouse with laundry was very nice & large. We loved being so centrally located yet a bit removed from the crowds. We will be back for sure!

Rustic location very convenient to all the sites in the area. Beautiful grass/tree setting with lots of property to walk and enjoy the scenery. Far enough off the road to provide peace and quiet. Gary is super nice and helpful escorting to sites. Sites are fairly level with back-in sites providing more privacy and space than pull-throughs. 14 RV sites with tent sites and cabins also on property.
Bath house has toilets, showers, and laundry that were all clean. Water temp in showers was not consistent. Second shower had was scalding hot! Laundry fee $2 each on honor system with 2 washers and only 1 dryer (4 more dryers onsite but not working). Verizon sketchy to non-existent but WiFi available and working about 90% of time.

Perfect for exploring all there is to offer. The owners are really nice people and he even let me do a little gold prospecting on his property. Thee park is small but they own a lot of land so if you want to let your dogs go for a run he encourages that in the lower 40. The sites are very level and it is easy to maneuver in the park.

Gary and Toots (yes, that's her name!) are super hosts - very nice and helpful. The valley over the small ridge where the lake is located is too picturesque. It even has the old homestead cabins and barn intact. No fish in the lake thanks to a mink. Sites were levels, good water, some fire rings were a little out of place. It's only 0.5 miles down the road from Crazy Horse, easy access to Mt. Rushmore, and only a couple of miles from DT Custer. The hosts do a nice job of keeping the bathrooms sanitized, though it's very hard to get wet in the showers (super low flow heads), and the washer/dryers weren't operating. We'd definitely stay again - cool days and crisp nights.

We stayed here one night after visiting Mt Rushmore. This place is in a great location, about 20 min from Mt Rushmore and you can see Crazy Horse from the campground. The host was very personable and checked on us multiple times. They have multiple ponds that you can walk to and see the wildlife. The host even took us by UTV to a spring (1.5miles) down the path where they have a place to pan for gold. You find it, you keep it! We found several rocks of granite, fouls gold, quartz, and some with flecks of gold. We would stay here again.

We were very happy to have found this place. Gary, the owner and host is very welcoming, helpful, and so generous to share the beautiful land he owns in back of the campground which has ponds, a couple of paddle boats, a spring and a lovey hike which treats you to an amazing view of Crazy Horse. The sites are not huge and the shower house is older, but very clean! If you want a place with room to roam around and walk without having to leave the campground, this is it!

Toots and Gary were very accommodating. The clean amenities include showers, bathroom, washer/dryer. Gary checked to see if we needed wood for our fire, which we did, so he made sure we had some. Beautiful scenery! Highly recommend! If you’re reading this please be mindful of your neighbors, not everyone shares the same taste in music

This spot is awesome. The owner is a character and super gracious/nice. Our actual pull through was nothing special and not very secluded, and when the owner greeted us with his shirt off, we were a bit worried. Once we settled in and explored the trail, lakes and natural beauty, we understood the lofty reviews. Beautiful property! You can see Crazy Horse from the site, and hike/bike/fish. Electric, water, sewer, wifi and onsite bathrooms as well. Would come back for sure. Stars and campfire. Thanks Gary!

We stayed here Mon-Fri and had an amazing time. This was our first non overnight spot on our road trip and we’re so glad we had the week to relax and recover here. The property is large and has tons of walking paths. Garry (pronounced Jerry) was kind and helped us back in and fill up our tires on the RV. Close to Custer state park, Mt Rushmore and Wind Cave National park! Tons of wildlife on the property as well. Good WiFi with our AT&T hotspot. Only “complaint” that wasn’t that big of an issue for us was that the laundry services were down (we just went into town to “Lost Sock” to do laundry).
