“where art meets history”
Cuba, Mo is a Route 66 community where art meets history. People, places, attractions, and activities come together in Cuba. We are a small town with big ideas and are known as the "Route 66 Mural City."
We loved this little town. We stopped at a place called Frisco grill and the owners were very accommodating. We were traveling with our dog and they said we were welcome to come sit on the outdoor patio with him. The food was great and the company was wonderful. They even offered to bring out a piece of meat for the dog, but he gets car sick so we had to pass.
Murals are located east and west of Highway 19 on Washington (old route 66).
The murals are NOT WHERE THE GPS says they are. Make sure you look them up to get a more accurate location before you go. They are difficult to view while driving (without driving obnoxiously slow) so I would recommend making a stop out of it and walking around.
This is a cute little town. The murals aren't where it says they are, GPS took us somewhere crazy. They're past the sonic at the next red light, then take a right. Murals were deff worth a look!
There is a mailbox on the wall of a house at Washington and S Buchanan St which contains leaflets with maps of the mural locations and their history.
Neat stop, we walked the block and looked at the murals. My aspiring artist was amazed at the size and details. She asked me at least 5 times if she could paint the side of the house, lol.
So cool! Worth the quick walk!
Learned a lot about the town from the murals, was like a mini scavenger hunt though we still never found the Bette Davis one no matter how hard we tried.
Great little town. The murals are really cute. I recommend spending a bit of time just walking around, and getting some food.
If you like cute little quaint towns, this is a pretty good stop. If you like murals and street art, this is just a meh stop, as it's typical small-town-historical fare. Worth it if you're looking to stretch your legs from a long road trip, but I wouldn't be too bummed if I had to cut it from my itinerary.
