Really nice campground, clean, staff super friendly and helpful. Close to train station to go into NYC, Supermarket close by. Plenty of things to do in the area to enjoy yourself.

We have a 40-foot motorhome and stayed at this park for 4 nights, after Labor Day weekend. If you do not have an RV, maybe our perspective is not applicable to you.

We selected this spot because we needed a spot for the RV while we went into NYC, and this park was close to a railroad station that took us right to Grand Central.

PRICE: $50 a night for 30-amp site with no sewer. Too high, particularly after Labor Day. We wanted full hookups, and those sites exist at the park, but they weren't available.

BATHROOMS: This is where the park truly earned the 2-star review. The toilets were ok, but the showers were SO awful. We forgot to turn the water heater on one day before going out to the city, so when we got back the water was just ice cold in the motorhome, so in the middle of the night I ventured into the ladies bathroom. The shower has these old ugly tiles with mildew everywhere. I went to the first shower. The water was barely warm. I started washing my hair and realized THE WATER WAS NOT DRAINING and I'm standing in this lake of filthy water. I went to the next shower and that one drained, but the water was fully cold. I had soap on my body and just grit my teeth through that terrible shower. I could have just stayed on my own motorhome at that point, between the cold temperature and weak water pressure. And this is in the middle of the night, when no one was using the showers. My husband said the men's restroom was gross as well, and he would only give 2 stars for that experience.

LOW BRANCHES: Our motorhome is 12'10" tall, and along the road into the park to the RV sites, and even inside the RV sites, we encountered low branches the entire time. Annoying to hit those low branches while you're making it over to the dump station.

DISTANCE TO TRAIN STATION: Our concept was we could either walk or Uber to the rail station and easily get to NYC, since we were under the impression that the park was just a mile away from the train station. The railroad ride was fine. What was challenging is that while the park office is 1 mile from the train station, the actual RV sites are really 2 miles from the train station since they were 1 mile into the park. There is hardly any Uber or taxi service. There is no shuttle service from the park to the train station. It would have been helpful if there were bikes to rent to make that easier, but there wasn't. So here we were, trekking our way on foot to the train station. We were not mentally prepared for that level of exercise, but at least we were wearing appropriate footwear. We got home every night SUPER exhausted.

DUMP STATION & DUMPSTER: I noticed there were RV spots RIGHT NEXT TO the dump station, which is a stinky open hole in the ground. Luckily we didn't get assigned those spots, but something to watch out for. The dumpster was fully open, with no cover on it, so flies are buzzing around it and it stunk. The recycling cart was tiny for a park with so much activity.

RV SPOTS: The campers were clustered together, with hardly any space between them. With all the area of this park, you'd think they could space the actual spots out better. Poor planning. I didn't feel comfortable even putting out the awning since we were just so close.

AESTHETICS: The park itself is pretty, and there is a sandy beach shore along the Hudson. If your only motive is to enjoy the pretty park, then this is a good enough park to look at. We came a week after Labor Day and found the weather too hot and humid to truly enjoy the outdoors. If you're looking to stay here at the RV park, I'd recommend looking at other options.

We had a wonderful encounter with this park. First off, there are not many RV park options for those wanting to visit NYC. We did not want to drive through the city with our 37 foot fifth wheel, so the Liberty park near Long Island was out of the question for us. All the other parks that we found were much further out from the city. This is a beautiful regional/city park on the shores of the Hudson River. The campground is a 2-3 mile drive from the Croton/Harmon train station. From here you can take the commuter train into Grand Central Station (its about a 50 minute train ride and they offer family rates if you ask and travel on off-peak times). We really enjoyed our brief stay here. The weather in mid October was wonderful (60's in the day an 40's at night). The leafs changing in the park were lovely. On our first evening we took a walk at dusk out to the point. This park sits on a peninsula that jets out into the Hudson river. If you walk to the back of the campground you can continue walking for a couple of miles. We saw deer crazing at night and there was a beautiful sunset. There was a handful of runners enjoying the path through the park. We found there to be many long-term units here that were staying for the winter...apparently the park closes for the winter for most sites...but they do leave a handful of sites open for pull-ups during the winter if you are self-contained and do not need water. There were multiple gas stations with diesel very close to the park and grocery shops and restaurants within a few minutes. You should know that they have an excellent weekly rate of $250. Whenever we return to NY, we will be utilizing that great rate. The office gives you a gate card which allows you to come and go at any time. We had full hook-ups with 30 amp electrical service. You will need to use Route 9 to access the park. You can not take an RV on the Taconic Parkway, so plan your route ahead of time with Good Sam. Lastly, we were in site 48 near the dump station. We did not have an issue, as we were only here for sleeping...however I would aim to seek out a different site. This site is rated for 37 ft units, however we could not fit without parking at an extreme angle as there are two wooden posts in the rear. This really should be rated as a 32 foot site.

Beautiful park, but nobody was on duty after 4:45 pm on a Friday - I got my gate card key on "check in" because it was up on a bulletin board. Unfortunately, that closed office was the only place to buy firewood and you are not allowed to bring in your own - so no campfire for me. There is a quiet policy after 10 pm which is not enforced. I camped next to a group of young couples which brought their TV (!!!!) and was up until midnight hearing the basketball game and their loud game of sexual dictionary (no joke) while camping with my young daughter. Bright lights shined in my tent repeatedly as thy started preparing dinner at 11 pm. Zero enforcement of noise policy in this camp and no common courtesy. When they charged me $50 the next morning (!!) to camp there with a tent (!!!) the park manager mumbled a "sorry for any inconvenience" without looking up from her computer screen. Basically, if you want to pay a lot of money to stay at a beautiful park run by the DMV, this is the finest awful experience in the East.

This is campground is a good choice if you are going to spend most of your time in the city. We stayed here in November and about half of the RV campground was full. The sites were decently spaced but all located in one small square of the park - no water views and only 4 rows of spaces. If you are planning on having a fire be prepared to bring your own fire ring or be stuck with a bundle of wood and nothing to do with it, they do not have fire rings for loan and are only available at tent sites. The squirrels are crazy here - they drove my dog and us insane with their constant attempts at scaling our trailer, pitter pattering of tiny feet on the roof and strangest one sitting at our window and staring at us while we did our thing. The park itself was beautiful with lots of roads and paths along the water, well kept benches and interesting old cabins. The train station is within a mile and parking for the day is cheap. It also offers an express train to Grand Central Terminal that we utilized many times.

Side note: Beware of any of the parkways when trying to access this campground with an RV/trailer. We were about to exit onto the Saw Mill Parkway when a nice NY resident prevented us from doing so by honking, flashing and wildly shaking her head "no". Signs for No Trucks are posted but trailers also fit this bill and you will be dealt a hefty ticket ($3000+) plus will need to back it out of there if pulled over. There are also really low overpasses on all of the parkways. We took Saw Mill Rd as an alternative route, which was longer but very scenic and didn't cost us a penny!

The only thing going for this place is the location. The location right near the train into NYC was so convenient, and the park is very pretty with nice sites among trees so you don’t really feel like you’re near a city. But the staff leaves a lot to be desired. First of all, making a reservation was difficult. We are full-time RV’ers and I start planning our travels in the fall for the upcoming year. I knew the dates I wanted to stay here so I called in October and was told they were not taking reservations for 2018 until Jan. 2nd. Okay, that’s understandable and no problem so I put it on my calendar to call back. On Jan. 2nd I called several times and nobody ever answered the phone. I started trying again the next day and finally got someone on the phone that afternoon. She told me the dates I wanted are already booked, but that if we were willing to moves sites during the week she could get us in. Moving sites is inconvenient in a large 5th wheel, but it was our only option. I was pretty annoyed by this though since I had tried to reserve it in October and tried all day on Jan 2nd. They need a better reservation system, not just one person trying to take all reservations on the same day. Might I suggest you use an online reservation system? I will give the lady credit though that took my reservation because she was one of the only friendly people we ever encountered at that park, and she was very helpful. Anyway, we showed up on a Sunday afternoon but there was nobody working so I got my reservation info off the bulletin board that showed we were in site 8 for one night and could move to site 9 the next day for the rest of the week. When we pulled up to site 8 we noticed that site 9 was already vacant, and wanted to just pull in there rather than have to move the next day. Getting someone to answer the phone is nearly impossible, so we finally noticed a park ranger driving around and asked him if we could just pull into site 9. It took him a long time to get in touch with someone who finally confirmed that nobody was coming into site 9 and we could go right into that site. It was just frustrating though because this all took about an hour in the rain before we could finally find someone that works there that could help. The next day my husband went to the office to officially check-in and pay for our stay. The lady working there proceeded to swipe our credit card several times saying that it wasn’t working. Apparently it was working and we were charged 6 times for our stay. I can understand mistakes like that happen, but rather than letting us know about it, I had to find out by finding the charges on my credit card the following week. And then like I mentioned before trying to get someone on the phone to take care of this took several attempts. It was finally taken care of but it would have been nice if an employee actually contacted us and let us know of the issue, that they were aware of it and were taking care of it, rather than me having to continually try to call and get someone to take care of it. In addition to all that, the park rangers in the trucks drive way too fast around the campground, while they require campers to obey the speed limit. We were right across from the playground and our kids would often go across the street to play there. One day I saw 2 employees going so fast one right after the other right by our site. Thankfully our kids were not crossing the street at that time! In over 3 years of fulltime travel, I don’t remember ever having such a frustrating experience with the staff at a campground. So, with all that said, I still think it’s a nice location for visiting NYC, but don’t expect to receive good customer service. Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile all worked well there.

This park is on the Hudson River, which is very beautiful. However, the campground does NOT have a river view. It's crazy, right? I grew up in Westchester County, and I can tell you, that is just the way they do things there. Also, just know, upfront, that you will be camping with lots (half the campground) of full time residents. It seems that the County also holds a certain number of campsites for workers employed with the County via outside contractors (the new Tappan Zee Bridge, for instance). That said, we were never bothered by noise or riffraff at this campground.

Access is only by Route 9. Do not attempt to take the Saw Mill Parkway or the Taconic Parkway into this park. These are old, twisty, skinny roads and should be avoided by RVs and TTs.

There is so much to see and do: take the train into Manhattan. See a Broadway show. Stroll Fifth Avenue and Central Park. Do all the museums. The 911 Memorial. Brooklyn. All the River towns are lovely. Irvington, Dobbs Ferry, Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow. The Culinary Institute of America is close by. The Rockefeller Estates. The FDR Library and Museum. The Stone Barns.

Croton Point Park is beautiful, and well cared for. There are several playgrounds and there is a swimming beach. The sunsets are extraordinary. In late June, the park is the site of the Clearwater Revival Festival, America's oldest music and environmental festival, keeping the legacy of Pete Seeger alive and well. We were lucky enough to attend, and I can tell you that rolling out of bed and into a music festival in full swing is a wonderful thing.

Still, the campground is just mediocre. We enjoyed ourselves in spite of it.

Quiet camping under large sycamore and hemlock trees. Some pines nearby. Large site. Many sites near us are empty. Good walk to the end of the peninsula with the Hudson River on both sides. Many birds flying in the trees. There are some sites where workers are living year round. Not a problem. The sites are clean. No fire pit at site. Nice campground.

Stayed there mid September 2019. Had full hookup site. At this time there were quite a few open sites. Some were occupied by long time residence. Many appear to be former NY residents that live elsewhere and spend summer there. It is about an 1.5 hour train ride to the city or 2-3 hour drive depending on traffic. Really nice green space with plenty of walking or running areas. There is also a paved bike path that runs north along the Hudson for a few miles. Just watch for tree roots on the path by the apartment complex. Staff was not very friendly but it is New York! Local law enforcement wouldn't even wave. I did see a few people fishing on the river but all they were going after was carp and catfish. While we there, it was pretty quiet. I felt very safe there and did not have any issues. Showers were cleaned daily. Grounds were well maintained. Buildings were in need of repair. I would stay there again for convenience sake only. Grocery store within 1 mile. Lots of other local eateries nearby. Be aware of which route you take to leave. Certain roads restrict trucks and trailers. One gentlemen signaled me to pull off road I was on as it was a $300 fine according to him. And to those traveling to East Coast for first time, toll roads will break your budget quickly. Make sure you have EZ Pass.

Oh lord.... this was awful.... the ground is COVERED in garbage, the tables had chicken bones plastered to them, bees eating all the garbage. There were so many bones on the ground I tried to clean my area to keep my dogs safe... not possible. If there isn't a bone, it's a 3" deep pile of goose poop. Listen I have been to a lot of campsites, and a lot have been gross it happens... but the staff was incredibly rude and that's not a combo I can deal with. You have to pay $50 at the entrance before you even see the sites. I was the only car there so I could have even chosen almost any site but zero were clean. One was covered in vomit. One had a huge tv in it. I couldn't stay there and keep my dog safe so I asked if I could have a refund. I was even understanding they might keep a "deposit" portion - I had been there maybe 15 minutes and did nothing but try to clean trash.... They said it was impossible to refund credit cards. What?

If you are in the area go to Ward Pound it's one of my favorite places. I tried Croton for a change but nope, never again. At Ward they said they often get Croton refugees.
