Situated in a magnificent old-growth redwood grove on the banks of the wild and scenic Smith River, this campground offers hiking trails, swimming, fishing, and seasonal campfire programs. Cabins available. Jedediah Smith Campground Map Location: Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, 10 miles east of Crescent City, Calif. on Hwy 199. Open: All year. Sites: 86 tent or RV (no hook-ups); hiker/biker sites available. Facilities: Hot showers, ADA accessible restrooms, ADA accessible cabins, dump station, picnic tables, fire pits and barbeques, food lockers and trash receptacles, visitor center, campfire center. Vehicle Length Limit: 36-foot RV or 31-foot trailer. All Reservations and questions are with RESERVECALIFORNIA.
Named after the explorer, Jedediah Smith State Park includes 10,000 acres of predominately old growth coastal Redwoods. The Smith River also flows throw the Park which is a World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve. The Park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, conifers, shrubs, bushes, ferns and mosses. The Smith River and Mill Creek are known for king Salmon and Steelhead trout runs in the fall and winter. In addition, the Park has a visitor center, campground and many hiking and nature trails to explore.
