Columbia Bridge

The Columbia Bridge was built in 1912 to replace an earlier bridge which had been destroyed by fire the previous year. The current bridge was built by Charles Babbitt. It was rehabilitated by the state in 1981 at a cost of $143,000. It is the most northerly Connecticut River bridge connecting Vermont and New Hampshire. The Columbia Bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  The bridge has a length of 145'9" with a clear span of 131'6". It has an overall width 20'7" with a roadway width of 14'8", and a maximum vertical clearance of 13'1". There is a half sheathing on the upstream side and full sheathing on the downstream side. It is posted for six tons.
