“non-sectarian cemetery”
The Lake View Cemetery, located in the vibrant University Circle area, was organized in 1869. We are considered "Cleveland's Outdoor Museum and Arboretum." It's Cleveland's historical, horticultural, architectural, sculptural and geological gem. Our magnificent collection of trees, shrubs and plants make for an exceptional green space in an urban area. This "green space" provides a wonderful refuge for birds and small animals, as well as a showplace of extraordinary architectural and sculptural treasures. As a non-sectarian cemetery, The Lake View Cemetery is open for burials of all races, religions and walks of life. The Cemetery is the final resting place of over 107,000 people. It is a place to celebrate the lives of those people, each with a story to tell. With nearly 70 acres remaining for future development, The Lake View Cemetery will continue to inter people for the next 100 years. We encourage you to learn more about The Lake View Cemetery through the links provided in this website. Our professional, caring staff is here to serve our families and visitors, and will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have. We hope that you will call or visit The Lake View Cemetery in the near future.

Gorgeous, and a pleasant afternoon stop. It is still functioning, so don't be confused when you check in at an actual funeral home. They'll give you a map that highlights the top ten grave sites that people ask about, and I'd say that I had no idea who eight of them were. Google maps made it more complicated then necessary to get here; one wrong turn and suddenly you're in a rundown sketchy neighborhood. It's pretty, but after stopping at the Christmas Story house, I really just wanted to get back on the road.
Beautiful place to spend an afternoon. Be sure to check out the Garfield Memorial and Wade Chapel. At the Euclid Gate, stop by the office and purchase the field guide for 5 bucks. It's worth it if you want to find the famous graves.
Amazing Cemetery to walk around, directly comparable to Spring Grove down in Cincinnati, which you should also check out. Incredibly ornate and dramatic mausoleums at both.
This place is HUGE! So much so that it is actually very peaceful in the middle of the cemetery, despite it being so close to downtown Cleveland.

I stopped here just as the sun was rising mid April. It was the perfect spot to get out and walk around during our road trip out East.
We had a great picnic & chapel tour, also crying angel not far from chapel.
