“proudly serving Counter Culture in the heart of downtown Cleveland”
Pour over and espresso bar proudly serving Counter Culture in the heart of downtown Cleveland, Ohio. In the early ‘90s, when Clevelanders were learning to speak Italian in front of gourmet coffeepots, few could have imagined they’d be traveling back to the future scarcely 20 years later. Today, the age-old process of pouring hot water over ground coffee into a single cup is what’s hot. Or not. John Johnson, coffee director at Rising Star Coffee Roasters, insists a “pour-over” tastes great even at room temperature. “It’s a sweet, smooth and well-balanced cup of coffee,” he declares, sipping the tepid brew he made five minutes earlier in the small Ohio City shop. “There’s no need for milk or sugar.”
Really great, new place. Enjoyed the vibe. Seems like a good spot to do work. They have a slim selection of delicious pastries and bagels (cleveland bagels!). The coffee is all pour over (or espresso) and the beans change. I had one with blackberry in it that didn't quite do it for me, but I think it was the flavor profile, as the coffee itself was incredibly well made.
