I almost passed by this site because there were no reviews but I made a U-turn and thought I would take a look at it and it works just fine… It’s kind of a parking lot that doubles as a makeshift campground for bird and water fowl hunters and enthusiasts. It’s only about a half a mile from the main road on a gravel road and cell service is very good if you have Verizon. I wouldn’t spend days here but not bad for a quiet overnight.
7/13/20 UPDATE:
I initially planned on only staying 1 night but I am on my 5th night here. On my 2nd day here I walked all over and found that there are a few more places to camp than the parking area that I mentioned above. I was hesitant to explore with my trailer attached since I didn't know what the turnaround opportunities were and since I was only planning on staying 1 night I didn't unhitch. The roads are in great shape for any size rig. I found a nice spot further into the management area and it has been quiet and peaceful but be prepared for mosquitoes starting in the afternoon. You can stay here for 14 nights and it's FREE. Unfortunately, no campfires are allowed, that would have helped with the skeeters. The other camping areas are any parking areas around the management that have picnic tables and a vault toilet. Spots are not really specified so you can just park how you need. The small town of Choteau is only a short drive away and there is a city park (that also has camping for a fee) that has an RV dump ($5) and potable water. I prefer the solitude and silence of this area opposed to a city park next to the RR tracks.....you might too. But good to now there is a small market not far away too.

We loved it. The spaces will accommodate any size. Toilets but no water or trash cans. You'll come to a big open space first with picnic tables and a toilet.
Go straight if the gate with the tour sign is open and you'll come to another large open area with a toilet and picnic tables. You'll be right out in the middle of the action then. My only concern would be that the road at one point is bordered by water on either side and is a bit narrow. Not sure passing anyone would be accomplished.
To your right down the road we saw a turn off with another toilet and tables. Down that road further at the bend is a grassy area with picnic tables then on further is the boat ramp area.
To your left down the road you'll find a turn off with picnic tables. That's where we camped. You're a little closer to the water and wildlife there. Another three miles or so down that road it ends and left probably goes back to the highway and right is up to you to explore.
All the roads and camp spots were flat and solid. I posted a lot of pictures. This place was beautiful.
Follow the GPS points noted in the description. Google will run you past the campground. Don't ask me how I know that ;)
You will find the usual gathering of wetland bugs. There activities died down at night making for great sunsets.

As it says, great free camping en route to East Glacier. Enter through the main parking lot and continue past the maintenance buildings until you find a right turn down a gravel road. Grassy slips, picnic tables and beautiful sunsets. We had an abundance of mosquitoes so be prepared.

We needed a spot to camp on the way back from Glacier. It’s kind of hard to find, look for some industrial looking buildings at the entrance to the park, and head back maybe half a mile. There is a good sized lot with a gross pit toilet. There were two other vehicles there when we stayed. I believe there are several other lots with sites, but it was dark and late so we weren’t into exploring. It’s a neat area in the wildlife sanctuary but the mosquitoes were so insane we couldn’t go outside for any extended period of time. It’s fine for a place to sleep but I wouldn’t stay for long.

This spot was quiet and the pit toilet at the lot we stayed in was extremely clean. We took the first right though the first parking lot and then another right near the area with brush for a little coverage. There was a picnic table and 3 other campers there. Overall, great free spot, nice sunset area, and a little windy at night.

Dry camp with pit toilet. ADA accessible with a paved 100yd walkway along a slough. All Kinda birds, pelicans to lbbs. Great stars. Had the place to myself. Marshland and there was a slight eggish odor (when the wind wasn't blowin 10-20) from the swampy sloughs which had good size fish (carp?) thrashing around. Look for the two pit toilets visible to the west of US89. From the north take the dirt road after passing the wildlife refuge marker or follow the "tour" route to get to the northern one from the southern one which is just a parking place off 89.

This is a great spot! Wonderful place to stop after leaving Glacier if headed to Helena etc. go into the driveway and continue straight on to the gravel road just a short bit. Turn right into camping area. There is a huge gravel lot and picnic tables and a pit toilet. As others mentioned this is a a bird Heaven. For bird watchers and hunters! There is a brochure at the welcome sign showing you all the services available here for both. Tons of birds here. Also we heard coyotes in the night. Unbelievable sunset too! Pictures above. Highly recommend! Good Verizon service too.

Not busy. Lake is pretty. Pitt toilet is very clean. Can stay 14 days, not just 2. Mosquitoes ate me alive. One camper was running an open frame generator.
