“eat and then get out”
No, seriously. "If you like what you're eatin', order more. If you don't - there's the door." Plenty of art on the walls but there's no reason to look around. Eat and get out! Tip: don't get offended when the server snobbily sits you and has an attitude. That's part of their job.

if you are looking for a touristy fun place to take your kids whilst in the Windy City stop by Ed Debevic's. they will make crude cracks at you and your friends, and the food is pretty so-so, so don't go in expecting it to be anything and you should be fine
my first experience at this place was in 8th grade on a school field trip, and we all feared our mean old waiter. 9 years later, and i still probably would.
to me, ed's is a must-eat when in chicago, especially for first timers. it's always a joy watching how they act when the waiter/waitress makes the first rude, off-hand remark. at least i imagine it is, as i haven't been there since i was in 8th grade.
Ed's is now closed!
I didn't like Ed's. Honestly, having someone yell and curse at you is not the place for me. It was clean, but the servers dance on the table. No thanks. I couldn't wait to get out of there with my 2 year old. If that is your sort of thing, go for it!
