“architecture, landscape design & art”
Millennium Park is a public park located in the Loop community area of Chicago in Illinois, USA and originally intended to celebrate the millennium. It is a prominent civic center near the city's Lake Michigan shoreline that covers a 24.5-acre (99,000 m2) section of northwestern Grant Park. The area was previously occupied by parkland, Illinois Central rail yards, and parking lots. The park, which is bounded by Michigan Avenue, Randolph Street, Columbus Drive and East Monroe Drive, features a variety of public art. As of 2009, Millennium Park trailed only Navy Pier as a Chicago tourist attraction. Some observers consider Millennium Park to be the city's most important project since the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893. Discover a state-of-the-art collection of architecture, landscape design and art that provide the backdrop for hundreds of free cultural programs including concerts, exhibitions, tours, and family activities. In Millennium Park, you’ll find a new kind of town square – a lively, spectacular gathering spot located in the heart of the city and a destination for Chicagoans and visitors alike.
What a wonderful place to spend a beautiful day. The park is a massive sprawling facility in the heart of Chicago (similar to Central Park) which makes it a nice place to explore after being surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the city. This is also the venue for Lollapalooza which should give you a sense of how big this place is. Highly recommend a stroll through here on your next visit to chicago.
Millennium Park is absolutely beautiful. Immediately adjacent to Chicago's downtown area, Millennium Park is one of my favorite places in the city. During the summer be sure and bring wine and a picnic for Monday night concerts in the park every week at the Frank Gehry-designed bandshell.
Beautiful park in the heart of downtown. "The Bean" gets a lot of the hype, but all of the infrastructure in and around the park is fascinating. Green's always good, and I'd recommend for a pleasant walk when in Chicago.
This place is awesome! You can BYOB to the theater and its absolutely massive and there is tons to see. Highly recommend a stop here! This is also the location of the bean or cloud gate so you can knock two places off at the same time!
Parking is a nightmare on the streets so bite the bullet and park at the millenium garages for the day and just go everywhere from there!
We loved walking through Millennium park. The windy bridge was fun. Great place for photography fun and a great place to let the kids run off some energy. We loved walking on the windy bridge. Looks like there is rock wall climibing, miniature golf and all kinds of things to do on that side of the park. We also walked out the other side of the park and right down to the waterfront of Lake Michigan. Great views and gorgeous park.
Love this park! It's so beautiful there! I almost didn't visit the park, but it ended up a great bonus to my trip to Chicago! I highly recommend stopping by!
One of my favorite parts of Chicago, this park is a MUST go-to if you are visiting the city. They might have live music, they might have a festival going on, but regardless of the weather/events/anything, this park is amazing.
There's so many activities here. The facilities are great. The concert hall architectural is amazing. There was a lot of people having lunch, having picnic and having a great time. The park has lots of interesting arts and statues too. It's a great place to visit.
Easily the best park in Chicago. Excellent place to hang out downtown and enjoy the views. It's the perfect meeting place because it's close to everything. "The Bean" always has good people watching opportunities.
You can't say no to free byob shows in the park! It's a beautiful venue, with no bad seat in the house. It's also a great place to grab your lunch and relax for an hour. Plus, there's great food everywhere you turn so you've got no excuse not to visit.
