Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on August 21, 2023We stayed at this Campground as the Indiana Dunes State Campground was full. They mistakenly gave us a flyer at the state campground saying that Sandcreek only cost $20. It actually cost $42 and was not really worth it. The campground had very new buildings but the amenities were lacking and the poor woman running the place was all by herself. Though, if it's the only place you have to stay and you want to be close to Chicago it's not that bad.
The property was clean. However many sites electric did not work (which we learned after setting up) and the manager had little to no hospitality.

With how popular camping became and outdoor recreation became during covid, this campground has been a great alternative to the state parks. With most state parks sold out for months this is a great alternative.
The management is new in 2021 after a few years of previous management letting the place run down in anticipation of a sale. While some amenities (pool) aren’t available, the rates are very very reasonable and the staff incredibly helpful! Chesterton is a great little town to explore and this campground is ideally situated to explore what northwest Indiana has to offer!
They should be more careful clean ID bathroom. This is dirties shower I have been in my around country RV trip. It is a shame bc the grounds of the park are very nice. I won’t be back here.

This is a family-run campground with residence on-site. Dad & Mom operate the CG with the one teen boy does some maintenance and the two teen girls do the cleaning. If you acquire an old CG, as these new owners did in 2020, then you have inherited all the shortcomings of the previous challenges. The structures were in good condition but the interior showers & restrooms could use some TLC if not out right overhaul. The pool is in need of overhaul and was not operational when we were there. The restrooms at the pool were also the worst. There are 4 cabins and several tent sites. Most sites are on grass or grass-covered gravel. The electric needs work as does the plumbing - the owners are still trying to figure out the layouts. Our site was 50-amp full hookup but a water break on a weird plumbing arrangement down the line had us using our own tank for about 12hrs. (we always fill our fresh water to about 2/3 every time we arrive at a new CG then dump before we depart) Not-with-standing the crayon drawing map of the CG, the numbers of the sites are not in any logical order. There are some seasonal campers and typically look a bit worn, however this is a good stop for touring the near-by activities such as the Indiana Dunes NP & SP. Because they do not have work-campers/managers the office is irregularly staffed and the posted hours are not necessarily accurate. They do answer the cell phone listed. The CG is bordered by a housing community and farmland but not bothersome. The entrance is off County road N-350-E but do NOT take your huge high camper North from US-6 to the left turn into the CG. County road goes under I-80/90 and that overpass is about 12'8"!!! Their entrance signs could use some upgrade and cannot be seen coming from the South anyway. And the entrance drive, altho paved is way too narrow for 2 campers to pass.

We stayed here two nights in mid-August. The site was grassed and the environment quiet. We were greatly disappointed at the minimal Wi-Fi coverage. T-Mobile was weak, but we could stream video.

We were in spot 22 a pull through site. The site has 50 amp power, water and the next-door neighbors sewer connection. The site is grass only. We were unable to level the coach. The water was either rusty or muddy some of the time. We paid $60 for one night here.

We only stayed the night while driving through but the site we had was nice. We have a 28’ class A rv and the site was easy to get into. It was quiet at night and thats all we needed.
