Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on July 11, 2018We have camped in Chester many times. This state park is a quiet for those looking for a nice getaway for a few days. The sites have recently been upgraded to 50 amp though only a few sites would be considered friendly to larger rigs. Be sure to check the individual site listings on their reservation system. There is a dump station and a couple of the sites have sewer but are frequently occupied by the campground hosts. You should plan on using the dump station.
This is a campground that is most friendly to a mature clientele, as most of the park's child friendly amenities are in the main section of the park, a short ride away. But we like the quieter aspect of this park. The campground is adjacent to the lake. Some of the campsite have lake views, but the view of the lake is partially obscured by trees. That said, the lake is just a short stroll downhill with a fishing pier. Gasoline powered boats are not allowed on the lake, so powerboat owners would be disappointed. The lake is several acres in size and they do have paddle powered boat rentals. There are always local fisherman at the lake, so the catch must be worthwhile. There is a trail around the lake that is pretty well maintained and a dam to visit. They do not have any swimming areas in the lake.
There is a decent offering of local fast food restaurants in the nearby town and also grocery shopping to include a smaller sized Walmart.
Cell signals are decent, but it gets a bit slow when the campground is fuller. It might be better with a booster.
Some of the campground address details on this listing are slightly inaccurate and should probably be reviewed/updated based on info from the state's website.
