“House built in the year 1834”
James Craik and his wife, Juliet Shrewsbury, in 1834, built the Greek Revival style Craik-Patton House. James Craik was a close friend to George Washington. Craik-Patton Inc. preserves the Craik-Patton House, grounds, and its collected contents, “The Elms” Well House, and the Ruffner Log Cabin as artifacts representative of the culture and history of the Kanawha River Valley and encourages the study and advancement of history through guided tours and public programming.
