The first State Park (1921) in the Nebraska Park system, Chadron State Park is a must-see. But for longer stays, it seems that most Nebraska State Parks come up short for campers looking for full hookup sites (Fort Robinson is one exception to this). Chadron State Park only has electric at the RV sites. It has many potable water spigots situated around the park, but carry a lengthy hose to reach a lot of them. Knowing the issue, my neighbors quickly offered their hose to add to my 50' hose so I could fill the tank. There is a single dump site at the park. Electric panel had modern 50, 30 and 20 amp receptacles. Verizon gave two bars but I had little trouble surfing the web. Other unique features of the park are horse rides ($25), outdoor swimming pool (adults, $4), beautiful tennis court, fishing pond, and miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. The park is very large and laid out in off-set sections, so campsites don't feel like a parking lot; RV sites are level, angled back-in style. The park is well maintained with paved roadways and pads, mature pine and deciduous trees and native prairie grasses. Some deer-resistant flowers are planted, too.
