“A B&B in the trees!”
The internationally famous Out 'n' About Treesort is a Bed and Breakfast plus adventure resort thats literally built in the trees. Out 'n About is a truly unique place. Part of it's uniqueness has to do with that it is a home grown and based business. There are no locks on the treehouse doors. It is not the Ramada or Hilton in the trees, but is a genuine four star Treesort. The treesort is on 36 private acres backed up to Siskiyou National Forest land & wilderness with 25 horses, two rocking horses, 4 dogs, & 1 cat usually running around. Very family oriented and friendly you can find everything from a calm peacefull solitude, to a sceaming ride on the ziplines or giant Tarzan Swing. Featuring Ziplines and Walkways throughout. We have over a mile of ziplines! At our zipshed you will meet our experienced and friendly guides, who will explain all and help you get suited into our gear. It took eight years of hard fought legal battles with Josephine county officials before they finally recognized the soundness of our designs and gave us our needed permits to be a legal Bed & Breakfast. We were ordered to shut down our treehouse rentals several times, and at peak pitch actually ordered to tear down the treehouses at one point. So to keep the business going we sold very expensive one of a kind dated t-shirts- "Treeshirts" as we call them (t-shirts with silk screenings of a favorite treehouse on it). We could not allow the general public to officially stay in the treehouses... but we could invite our friends. So everybody who came had to become our friend, one of the now many "Tree Musketeers". People from all over the world would treeserve a date to be put on a certain tree-shirt. They would then come here on that date, get their treeshirt and become a Tree Musketeer, our friend, spend the night in a treehouse and Michael would sign their shirt. We no longer have to sell shirts to earn money (but they're still available) and do not have to limit guests to our "friends" anymore, but we will always endeavor to make all our guests, our friends.
Grab some groceries on your way in and use the community kitchen and grills to enjoy dinner on the deck or next to the fire pit
Need a bit more adventure? Well, at Out n’ About Treesort, when you’re not snuggling in your cabin, you can choose any one of a number of outdoors activities. There’s horse back riding, zip-lining and arts and crafts, as well as hiking and general communing with nature.
If you are looking for a place to let your inner child run free and snuggle up with your boo, this is a unique stay you will not forget.
The treehouse was clean and cozy, and the treehouse bridges were fun. We had a full but tight-fitting bathroom. Take your own food, the website boasts of a hot breakfast, and a bag breakfast was provided.
We went during a concert event, a super chill vibe, good band, and they were jamming till dawn. The staff are friendly and welcoming.
We have stayed at the Out ‘n’ About Treesort three times and absolutely LOVE it!! We always do the zip lining and have tried both courses. They are really fun. Our kids (ages 5-18) all say it’s the best part!! We also love the Tarzan Swing, which you can add to the end of your zip line tour. It’s a one-time adventure for us adults that found ourselves looking for our stomachs for a few hours afterward, but the kids look forward to it year after year. The swimming hole is cold, but wonderful after you adjust to the temperature. We love the swing in the woods by the self-zip line that’s small. Just so many ways to enjoy yourself there. We’ve done the Swiss Family treehouse twice, which is super fun with kids. The rope swing there fills hours of fun! We also tried the Suite this last time and appreciated the bathroom inside and the personal bbq on the deck. Usually we love the community feel to sharing the bbq’s and fire pits, but liked that we had a choice this time due to Covid. Would recommend booking at least 9 months ahead. We got lucky this time and found one last treehouse a month out, but that was courtesy of Covid I think. If you want choices, think ahead. Love the breakfasts too!!
Amazing! Majastree and pleasantree are the really tall impressive ones. We stayed in one closer to the ground so the kids were a bit disappointed. But still had a great time. Do the zip lines too. Breakfast was amazing.
We had a great time here! We stayed in the Majestree, which was perfect for us and our 3 kids. They had a ball with the giant tire swing and with the do-it-yourself zipline. Breakfast was ample and tasty. We grilled and ate on a picnic table one evening, and next time we'll do that every night instead of eating in Cave Junction. We'll definitely be back!
There are many educational, and adventurous, vacation sites in Southern Oregon, but only one where you can, lit-treely, "go out on a limb"... have so much fun and learn something while you're there. The Treesort and Institute features Treehouse accommodations for kids of all ages. If you come to learn, relax, romance or just have fun there is plenty for all. Out'n'About is an veritable treehouse wonderland. There is a total of 18 different treehouses, platforms, forts, seven swinging bridges (8' to 32' off the ground and 12' to 90' long), five swings, 20 flights of stairs, four ladders and a ropes course with a 160' long zip line as a warm up to the Giant Zip. On the ground there is also a fresh water swimming pool fed by the East Fork Illinois River, a performance stage, bath house pavilion, big campfire site and barbecues (to mention but a few facilitrees). The treesort has 36 private acres backed up to National Forest wilderness with 16 horses, two rocking horses, 5 dogs, 1 cat, and 8 chickens (at last count) running around. Out 'n' About is a truly unique place.
This place was awesome. Like summer camp for adults! (But it's kid friendly too!)
My two best friends and I stayed here for a girls getaway weekend. We stayed in the Peacock Perch which was a lot of fun! We enjoyed the pool on site, it was nice to cool down after a day of hiking. The zipling was also a thrilling adventure!
I cannot seem to find the cost for staying in this amazing treesort...
