East Lake Carthage

This is a small open free campground on the northeastern shore of Lake Carthage. There are 6 fire rings on grass. There is a port-a-potty and trash bin.There is also a short path to the lake. Take the good packed dirt 426th Avenue north 1.4 miles to the horseshoe turnout on the Lake Carthage bank.

This is a great, free campground.
It’s not always clean, but that’s because of some visitors.
Swimming in the lake is not recommended (dirty).

The City of Carthage is overseeing the park now. We stayed at site 13 with our 35 ft . Sites 1-13 have 110, 30 and 50 amp. RV pads are gravel and grass, sites are grassy with a few smaller trees and most site look really level like ours. Electric sites are 15/night. Several tent only spots are $11/ night. A handful of water spigots. Vaulted toilets (didn't use). The road was fine getting into here. There is a swimming beach, fishing pier and boat landing. Grass well maintained and so is the campground road. Noise some highway noise and there was a single engine plane flying back and forward for awhile.

We did drive to this location There is one porta potty. No water, one old picnic table. Top area has room for about 5 to 7 larger vehicles, we could easily fit our 35 ft fith wheel in a couple locations on the upper level. On the lower portion, one pull through site that would be good for tenters or vans. A wide one lane dirt road that lead into the Old Lake Carthage one mile. Off of 425 Ave go east onto 222 St. This road was justed grated
