Pretty nice little spot for access to the river for fishing. It sits up on a bluff looking over the river towards some houses and the highway. The sites themselves are cleared but the rest is heavy tall grass. There is Verizon 4G service but it was very slow. The main downside is the road in. There is a short route and longer route. The short route goes over a weight limited bridge so if you exceed that you need to go longer. The longer route crosses the Madison on a modern bridge but then crosses an undocumented wooden bridge over a small creek, no idea if its sufficient or not. The road itself is ROUGH, lots of potholes.

decent camp overall. about half of the sites are tucked along the base of a small hill so you can get a little relief from the wind that is almost constant in this valley. the rest of the sites are out in the open. not a lot of trees/shade in here so camping in the hotter summer weather can get a little uncomfortable. only the sites along the southern most portion of camp have any view of the river. camp hosts on site to keep an eye on things and the area is also regularly patrolled by the forest service and MT fish & game. not terribly busy even at the peak of camping and fishing season - i've only seen camp maybe half full.
getting to camp can be a little tricky as mentioned in the previous review. you have the option of turning off highway 287 at the lyon's bridge fishing access/state maintained rest area, crossing over the Madison on a two lane bridge and then take a short drive down a two lane washboarded dirt road for about a mile. then a tight left turn onto a rocky, narrow and steep S curve, across an even narrower wooden bridge, past a small RV park and then right onto a two lane dirt road to the camp entrance. the second option is to turn off highway 287 when you see the signage for the west fork rv park, across an old steel girder bridge and then onto the dirt road to the camp entrance. the steel bridge has a height restriction of 12'6 and weight restriction of 4 tons. not sure which routes they take but i've seen large class A's and 30' 5th wheels in the camps so it is doable.
sites are pretty roomy - the sites along the south end are all large back in and there are also a few large pull through sites. those are a little awkward though - the pull thrus are actually two sites that are connected into a U so you need to either pull all the way forward or just enough to clear the main road so that you are only occupying half of the U shaped drive. the tables in these sites are pretty close together so if you do get a neighbor you had better hope you get along.
standard issue forest service tables and fire rings in each site. three pit toilets scattered around camp that are cleaned daily. water taps throughout camp with crystal clear water. no trash service so pack it in/pack it out. the entire camp is situated on a small plateau above the river with lots of grasses, wildflowers and sage brush. the camp hosts keep the grass around the sites and tent pads mowed as well as paths crisscrossing the center of the loop for access to the toilets. parking pads are gravel and a bit unlevel. this is bear country but there are only a couple of bear boxes in camp.
i've enjoyed my stay here and will come again. its a lot quieter back here than some of the other camps along the madison and being that camp is up a hill away from the river you don't get a lot of traffic passing by during the day.
cell service is spotty even though there's a cell tower within view of the camp. my phone kept going between no service to 2 bars 3g to 2 bars 4g through the day.
