We had a good experience here! We needed a quick stop on the way from Glacier towards Idaho and we pulled into this Walmart on a Monday evening...it was already filling up with RV's! We went in an asked at the customer service desk, she was very friendly and told us to find any place we could over by the garden center, staying away from their loading docks. We found a nice level spot, their seemed to be some electrical hookups at the curbing but we were more in the middle (didn't need them, just noticed there were several RV's plugged in!)...fixed dinner and settled in. The sunset was incredible!!! There was a bit of traffic in the lot as more and more RV's pulled in and took over that south part of the parking lot, but everyone kept to themselves and it was fine! The only issue we had was that about 9 pm their parking lot cleaner came roaring through!!! He made a clean sweep around every car and truck and RV and we were concerned a couple of times that he was coming pretty close!! But no rock chips...just noisy as all heck!
We would stay here again...it felt safe and clean and not too loud. We were out by 8 am or so, after a quick grocery run, of course!
Walmart is not far from Hwy 90 (about a mile). Easy access to the parking lot. We parked on the south side of the parking lot by the garden center with many other RV’ers. We did check with the service desk upon arrival, but I do not think it is necessary. The surrounding area appears safe even though the street Walmart is on is a major street though Butte. Quiet night except for the parking lot street cleaner that did a very thorough job cleaning the lot around 10pm. Side note: people history - Evel Knievel was born here in Butte, MT. Across the street from Walmart, in the Mountain View Cemetery, you will find Evel Knievel’s final resting place.
This was probably our best night spent at Walmart. The parking lot where most RVs were is situated on the south side, right next to the garden center. Plenty of RVs but no semis, so it was very quiet during night. This Walmart is very close to I90 and there is a clean dump station closer to I90. Awesome. :)
We had stopped for a couple of new tires in early September...Stayed the night since they weren't finished until near sundown.
Not too noisy...got a good nights sleep.
At least 20 other campers there that night....felt very safe.
I arrived early in the afternoon and parked in the back of the front parking lot with many other RVs, what I didn't realize is that they were just parking and shopping. I stayed by the entrance sign all night, tolerated the sprinklers, the buzzing Walmart sign and noisy traffic all night.
It wasn't until morning that I realized that I should have parked near the garden center where it's mostly flat, quiet and loaded with RVs. Next time ...
Great cell service and fairly clean lot. Even though I was alone, in the front of the parking lot, I still felt safe there. Many trash cans in the parking lot too.
Called ahead still allowing parking on the side close to dollar store
We parked our motorhome along a nice grass strip.
A few people already here not travelers.
Police showed up per management and cleared out people who had been over 24 hours.
Very noisy as they tried to get broken down vehicles going
Avoid parking closer to tire shop as trucks were dumping containers not trailers but just containers
Very loud
We encountered truck problems just outside of Butte, on a Saturday to find that the Ram dealership was closed until Monday. As luck had it, it is right next door to Walmart.
We checked it out and saw where others were parked, on the southeast side and on the main street side of the front parking lot. We parked along the grass near the tire center, directly south of the store. It was relatively flat and relatively quiet once the store closed. There is a back entrance to Walmart, so there was parking lot traffic going by us during the store hours.
As newbies we did not know the rules as far as how long you were allowed to stay. It looked like several rigs had been there awhile. On the 2nd afternoon, two Walmart representatives came knocking. They were VERY nice and understanding of our situation. They said they had to knock at all RV’s to show they were not “picking” on just certain RV’s. As I said, it looked like some RV’s had been there awhile. I told them we needed to stay until Monday morning, no problem they said. We were so thankful.
There were probably 20 other RV’s, the majority coming in later and leaving early. At about 11:00 PM, the street sweeper went through!
There’s a street sweeper that comes through and circles from 10-2! Loudest Walmart I have ever stayed at.
Spent the night here. Called to confirm RV parking still allowed. Instructed to stay on the south side of the parking lot to the left of the outdoor living sign. Basically near the garden & auto center side of the building. Parking lot was clean, found a level spot, handful of other campers as well. Yes there was some street noise, but nothing that kept me awake. Nothing to complain about for a free spot. Good Verizon signal. Able to text & search the internet.
Friendly staff, best Walmart I have ever shopped at! I was upset some a-hole left a basket full of trash. Come on people let’s not abuse the goodness of these stores. Treat them like a national resource because they are!
