“NO PRIVATE VEHICLES ALLOWED”
Our Lady of the Rockies, a 90-foot statue sitting atop the Continental Divide is the result of a dream and six years of hard work. Reservation needed for all tours. They leave from the Butte Plaza Mall and the round trip from Butte takes two and a half hours weather permitting .
Interesting to see, while passing through Butte. But I learned from some of the locals that it is better experienced on a tour which are offered during the summer (and I assume the warmer months). There are buses that climb the steep mountain and get you really close to the statue. I imagine that it is much better, seen up close. From the ground, it seems very small and getting good photos was difficult, even using a 50-300mm telephoto lens.
The address appears to be a tour company where you can buy tickets to see her. We got in after hours unfortunately but she's beautiful from afar.
It is impossible to drive up to this statue, as the picture makes it seem.
Just a statue to see from the side of the road. Good pit stop for a stretch!
You can see her illuminated like a huge Virgin Mary nightlight looking over the city. So cool!
Is there a similar statue placed high on a mnt. Overlooking a highway in Nevada or California? I remember this from a road trip in 1980, anyone ?
Went for a visit and unfortunately was never able to make it up. Roads were closed down with signs everywhere stated "Google lied, turn around". Regardless, it's still beautiful from the streets.
Went there yesterday with my 13 lb therapy dog
Refused to allow her on the bus on our lap because of allergies from people they never asked
They advertise as pet friendly beware NOT TRUE
We were unable to go up and see all of her but we were still able to see her from the highway at the senic point.
I always look forward to seeing the statue and didn't realize you could go up to it. Next trip for sure. Thanks for the information.
