“Learn about pioneer living at this authentic 1910 log cabin”
Learn about pioneer living at this authentic 1910 log cabin; former clubhouse of "Hawk-eye Natives." The Hawkeye Log Cabin was originally built in 1910 as a meeting place for the Hawkeye Natives, a club of those who had lived in Iowa fifty years or more. The members constructed the cabin in the "old" way with hand-hewn logs to honor their past and attest to their pioneer skills.Today the cabin is furnished with artifacts from Iowa's earlier times, representing the lives of those men, women, and families who sought a new life on the Iowa frontier. While the river rolls by and the eagles soar overhead, take time to reminisce about the heritage that has been left for us to remember and enjoy.
