Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on November 08, 2023Was passing thru and called on short notice. I paid $1.20 extra to be on river. Site was level and included cable. Had 2.5 " or rain overnight so had about 2 inches of standing water in the morning. Campground is at roads end with a small general store type office. Road also services a trailer park behind store. They claim to have river swimming between the 2 boat ramps.
8 private bathroom's older but working.

We needed a stop over for the weekend. It was available and reasonably priced for full hookups. It’s a fishing area and was busy over the weekend. There is a small store where you check in, the staff is super friendly. The sites are close together but we didn’t back all the way in so we could stagger the patio spaces so as not to be immediately adjacent to the neighbors. There is a bathhouse area with individual showers. The road in has a huge hump over train tracks that could be troublesome for towing. Although the sites are grass we leveled fine. We enjoyed our stay.

Peaceful campground. Awesome bathhouse with individual shower/toilet. Nice camp store with good food available. Full hook ups. A little off the beaten path but well worth it. Pet friendly.

I had our camper shades drawn so not to see outside!
This might be the least scenic campground we’ve ever stayed!
We needed a couple of days on the way to Savannah, GA and this was the only one we could find without advance reservations.

We stayed here for 2 weeks at the beginning of October. We did one of the sites that does not back up to the river. Our site was long enough for our bus and we didnt need to roll out a whole bunch of hose to reach utilities. The park is mostly used over the weekends for fishing and family tent camping but even then is still quiet. They have a small store to get fishing gear, snacks, necessities, and they do food service on the weekends. They have good wifi but no cell service. The park isnt fancy but is exactly what a regional park that caters to outdoor activities should be. We discovered that taking the right turn onto Altamaha Rd is not the best choice for us. The railroad tracks are very tall there and high centering was a real possibility. On our way out we used the May Rd turn which had much better clearance for tracks. When coming in, take a right onto May Rd, then the first left onto Old Jesup Rd, follow that 4-5mi until you see an old convenience store and go right on to Altamaha Rd.

We stayed here for a week while on our way to Florida. The day we got here there was a bass fishing tournament going on and it was pretty busy, but come Monday there was only 2 other campers here and it was nice and quiet all week. There is not very good cell service out here, our Verizon phones went in and out of 1 bar of 4G and 1 bar of 1x, our Sprint/Tmobile hotspot had 1-2 bars of 4G, which was enough for me to work remotely. The campsite has wifi and we were able to connect our tv to it and we streamed just fine from that. We stayed in site P1 and the site was very big with full hookups, picnic table, and grill. My husband used the shower house once and said the hot water lasted only a few minutes before it got cold. It is a 30 minute drive to downtown Brunswick, and 45 to St. Simon's Island and Jekyll Island.

I stayed here 10/15/23 to 10/20/23. It was off-season for them, and very quiet. The woman who runs the office is very nice, and even suggested a restaurant I enjoyed trying. The shower rooms have the potential to be fabulous, having a toilet sink in the shower in each private room. The problem was that even though they had a cleaning lady come every day, she wasn’t cleaning them. The public restroom was cleaner than the bathhouse for campers. In two of the rooms, the toilets had the same cleaning issues the entire time I was there. None of the sinks were wiped out. I cleaned one of the rooms (sink/toilet) one morning before my shower, then just always used that same room while I was there.
