“Best Hummus in NYC”
Think snack taverna and you have the right idea about this adorable newcomer to Brooklyn's ever-changing Ditmas Park. Though the space is teeny-tiny, excellent design and wise use of space give Mimi's a modern holistic feel - with large windows ferrying swaths of natural light into the dining room by day, and an open kitchen adding cheerful ambience come nightfall” (Michelin Guide Recommended).
Mimi’s Hummus was founded in 2009 by Brooklynite Mimi Kitani. Mimi, who was raised on the home cooked food of her parents and grandparents, simply wanted to convey her love of cooking and bring the flavors of fresh, seasonal, Middle Eastern cuisine to NYC. Her “sunny cafe serves dishes- not just hummus- that bear traces of the chef’s family history in Israel, Morocco, and the Kurdish region of Iraq” (The New York Times). Her locally-sourced, handmade concoctions and bright, modern aesthetic are quickly making Mimi’s Hummus a staple of Brooklyn cuisine.
Mimi's hummus is a delicious Israeli place. We got carry-out but the space itself is really nice too, very appealing and inviting. While the food is delicious, the price is also a bit high for the portion so keep that in mind. We ordered the beet salad, a vegetarian cous cous entree and lamb patties with tzatziki which were all really good.
