“Spacious and pleasant campground”
Overview Located just off the Whitefish Bay Scenic Byway in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Bay View Campground provides a rustic opportunity to camp along the shores of Lake Superior. The campground is a perfect stop amidst many recreational opportunities available in the Sault Ste. Marie area. Visitors also enjoy exploring the Whitefish Bay National Scenic Byway all the way to the beautiful Tahquamenon Falls.Recreation Miles of sandy beaches and beautiful sunsets stretch across Lake Superior, the greatest single body of fresh water in the world. Birding and sightseeing are popular pastimes, and visitors enjoy long walks along Superior's beaches.Facilities The rustic campground offers multiple single-family campsites for tent and RV camping. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and campfire rings with grills. Vault toilets and hand-pumped drinking water are available at several locations within the campground. Most of the sites are heavily shaded. A campground host lives at the campground and can be available to answer any questions.Natural Features The campground is located in Lake Superior's famous Whitefish Bay, the site of numerous historically preserved shipwrecks and lighthouse stations. The area is also a natural corridor for migratory birds. Nearby Attractions Tahquamenon Falls, a series of beautifully brown-colored waterfalls on the Tahquamenon River, are located just 30 miles away. The Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum and Whitefish Point Lighthouse are 39 miles to the north and west while the Point Iroquois Lighthouse lies about 8 miles east.

If you like quiet, remote wooded camping on a sand dune overlooking miles of sand beaches, this might be for you. No electric or water nor dump, just pristine wilderness, deserted beaches parked on sand between trees.
This is my kinda place, first come first served.

We arrived just before sunset on a Wednesday in late August after crossing the border, and were pleasantly surprised to find one available campsite, for one night only, at this small and tidy campground right on Lake Superior.
Our site was immaculate - no trash, no dog poo - and had a private, short trail that opened up to white sand and clear waters. We went straight to the beach before leveling - needed two blocks under our street side wheels in this site - and caught a gorgeous red and pink sunset over the bay.
Early morning walk with our pups and kiddo on a beach we had all to ourselves, with the exception of a sweet lady and her Corgi, Mollie, despite the campground being full.
Would happily stay here again, as it’s inexpensive and so well kept (the campground hosts even placed tiny solar lights at each campground entrance, which enabled us to read the reservations tacked to the post and find our site number in the dark), but the cleanliness, quiet, views and beach access just can’t be beat. We go to Canada every summer and often cross the UP on our way back west, so this campground is now going to be our go-to after our re-entry to the States.

Bay View has become our favorite park. The camp hosts, Pat and Kathy Fryer, keep the sites immaculate and the vault toilets are cleaned daily. Pat and Kathy went out of the way to make sure we had an enjoyable vacation. The scenery is beautiful with sandy beaches and large sites, many with views and direct access to Lake Superior. The campground is becoming very popular so reservations are recommended. The sites are private with trees between neighboring sites. Our stay was very quiet and peaceful.

We’ve driven through this campground in the past and promised ourselves that one day we would stay here. We are not disappointed in this quiet National Forest campground. Great site, right on Lake Superior and if you score a set on the lake side of the campground you have your own private beach. Gracious campground hosts made it a pleasant stay. We will be back.

Bay View CG is fantastic! We scored a lakeside site midweek in early June. Pit toilets very clean. Hand pump for fresh water so RVers may want to fill up before getting here. Beautiful sandy beach on an inland sea, Lake Superior.
