“300+ animals & an indoor rainforest!”
The Beardsley Zoological Gardens houses more than 300 animals. Highlights of the Beardsley Zoological Gardens include an indoor rainforest, an energetic troupe of monkeys, and the éminence grise, a Siberian tiger named Robeki. Its grounds were designed by renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted and make a pleasing walk in any type of weather.
Great little zoo. I lived near it for almost 25 years. But a better zoo, that you missed is Roger Williams Zoo in Providence, RI. Actually closer to I95 than Beardsley Park, and the size is just in between Beardsley Park and the Bronx Zoo.
Great for kids!
Sweet, thanks for the input
"éminence grise" means someone who wields power from behind the scenes, so I think the official description is trying to tell us that this zoo is actually operated in some capacity by the tiger. A search for a tiger named "Robeki" on the website's list of animals yields no results, lending credence to this theory.
Great visit for fans of animals, especially animals involved in mid-to-upper management.
