We stayed in the NW corner, which is the most flat area in this parking lot. In this corner we found grass park like area with trees cement walkways and a couple picnic tables. Few polite people sleeping in cars and vans and one small tent. Employees were friendly and encouraged shopping on site. Walking distant to good restaurants like Dave Famous BBQ.
The Bozeman Walmart is a few minutes outside of the downtown area of Bozeman. The Walmart seemed very accepting of RVs as there was an outdoor patio area with benches and picnic tables at the far end of their parking lot. It was a popular stopping point in June for RVs with approximately 30 RVs in the lot when we awoke in the morning.
The men’s bathroom was broken while we were there so all men had to use the family restroom, but I’m assuming that was a temporary situation. The women’s restroom was clean.
This Walmart was very busy both nights we stayed here. RV's of all sizes were here which does make you feel safe since it's full of travelers. We did see some homeless people around but they kept to themselves. We parked on the north end one night next to the grass which was good for the dogs and then we decided to move to the other side by the hotel since it wasn't as busy. The restrooms inside Walmart are very clean. The staff isn't super friendly or helpful. About 7 pm, the assistant manager knocked on our door and kindly asked us to leave the next morning since they have a "one night rule". She was nice enough to us but just a warning to anyone wanting to stop here for more than one night, they will come ask you to leave.
This Walmart has been a good place for overnight in the past years. But to my surprise, I had the knock on my door. An employee was out writing my vehicle information. I was notified that it would not be allowed to spend more than one night in that location. This is the first step to prohibit spending the night here. Never again.
We stayed overnight here and no problem. Brought a few groceries to stock up. There were a few other RVs parked too. No one knocked on our door. I recommend staying here overnight.
Convenient location from I-90. Quite a few other RVs in the lot while we were there. Large grass area available where we were able to give our pets a break as well.
Stop here overnight to restock our supplies. Couple of big rigs and trucks are here. Also saw several cars staying overnight and they appear to have stayed here for some time. . It’s unfortunate that people are abusing Walmart RV friendly policy.
Huge Walmart with big parking lot. Lots of lights in parking lot and curbs to park against. This Walmart really caters to RVers with lots of camping gear to purchase. Great location. Noisy but that’s to be expected.
Very noisy people in and out all night. Four police cars were here earlier because of the vagrants here were yelling and screaming at each other. Right now I can hear a generator running. Lots of RVs here but I do not feel safe at all. If I wasn’t so tired I would leave. Parked over by the motel side. Called for permission but management wasn’t very cordial at all. Would not stay here again.
This is a *very* loud and busy Walmart location. Train chug by all night, reminding you of their frequent presence with a series of horn blasts within a few seconds of hearing their rumble. At around 3am a parking lot cleaner (aka, street cleaner machine) took several laps around us - making sure none of us got any REM.
This is a very popular Walmart (pickings are slim in Bozeman!), and there were about 30 rigs in the lot on a Friday night with us. Many were one nighters - but a few were definitely staying at least two. And others - well, they may not have moved in weeks.
This Walmart does have a cute little picnic/sitting/grassy area at the end of it's lot - but it was typically occupied by a few folks who were struggling to be apart of typical society.
As always, access to Walmart was great - and this one also offers full groceries.
Would likely just pay the $20/night for dry camping to stay over at the Fairgrounds next go round - and hope we catch some sleep that way.
