“from bobcats to backhoes”
The Historical Construction Equipment Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving for public education the history of the construction, dredging and surface mining equipment industries. By joining our organization, you are helping to preserve the history of the construction industry in the U.S. and all over the world! The HCEA operates a museum and archives for the preservation of the history of the construction, dredging and surface mining equipment industries. Historically significant machines are restored, exhibited and interpreted for the education and enjoyment of the general public. Sales and service literature, photographs, and other documentation of these industries are preserved and made available for research. It is the only museum and archives of its kind in the world! The NCEA houses paper archives of construction equipment dating back to 1870. We've been around for 27 years, and the current archivist has been involved for 15. We started in Canfield, OH then moved west to Bowling Green. Ohio is the heart of what was once the manufacturing body, between New York and Wisconsin, so it's only right the National Construction Equipment Museum is located here. Volunteers primarily maintain the museum grounds, overseeing the restoration of of equipment, not just cosmetically but also operationally. Space is tight, and the museum is looking to expand its facilities soon. The goal of the museum is to show the evolution of construction equipment throughout the modern era, with machines ranging from the 1900s through the 1960s. It's a wonderful place for people of all ages, and visitors should call ahead to schedule an appointment. The admission is $7 per person.
This is every ten-year-old's dream! A room full old construction equipment, most in working order! The staff is friendly. Even if you can't make an appointment, you can see some of the machines that they are working on in their side lot.
