“Have a beer... in church!”
The Pub Church is affiliated with the Disciples of Christ. We are people who have become disenchanted with "traditional" church, but are interested in exploring religious/spiritual themes in a (not exclusively) Christian context. The Pub Church is affiliated with the Disciples of Christ but we are not exclusively Christian in our conversations. All our welcome to bring their own voices and contribute. We meet in a pub because it's a place in which many of us already feel comfortable and safe. We do know this is not true for everyone. We also wanted a place where we can eat and drink together. The structure of our gatherings vary but we do also keep some constant elements like communion, sharing of resources, conversational sermon and eating and drinking together. We sometimes have a musician perform, the kind that fits into the pub atmosphere, but we don't do any singing together. We are open to all people and everyone is welcome to every gathering but we don't proselytize (this is very important to us since most of us have been hurt by evangelical 'recruitment' efforts and strongly oppose invading people's personal space). Come join us anytime!
