“Historic Town”
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places; downtown Bonaparte offers gift shops; antique stores; a well-known restaurant; and historic lodging in the Villages of Van Buren. The smallest Main Street community in the country; Bonaparte was named one of 12 "Distinctive Destinations" by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Bonaparte's National Historic Riverfront District is absolutely worth exploring if you're passing through town! We loved all of the incredible architecture and amazing restoration that has been done on some of these buildings from as early as the 1840s.
