Confirmed by 7 users | Last reported on April 15, 2024Old Highway 86 is a Corp of Engineers campground on the shores of Table Rock Lake. The rates are excellent, and many sites have beautiful views of the lake. The sites are level, paved, shaded and nicely spaced. The online reservation system has a map of sites with photos of each--be sure to pick a lakeside site, if possible, since the interior sites weren't as nice. The park has a swim beach, but visitors can hop in the lake right from their campsites, as well. Stock up on supplies before you arrive since it's quite a ride to the nearest grocery store.

According to the park attendants, this is one of the top 3 busiest COE parks in the nation. It was 3/4 full while we stayed, even during the week. The attendants also told us a tip - if you want to stay at a COE campground longer than 14 days, use another phone number to book a separate reservation. The COE reservation system (and likely all campgrounds using Recreation.gov) tags you by phone number only.
The reason that this park is a 4* instead of a 5* for me is because there's not a lot to do here if you aren't into boating or kayaking and if you're not here to take advantage of nearby Branson. Missouri (incredibly touristy town with shows). This is a great park if you have an unlimited data plan and are looking hunker down and get work done while looking at a lake. We stayed for 10 days and switched sites 3 times because we didn't have a reservation and we wanted to stay in the area longer and we also wanted a lake view.
Sites: Sites are level, well-shaded and most are pretty close to each other. I would only stay at this park if I got a lakeside site. Interior sites were nice, but lacked inspiration since most of your views are of other RVs. I recommend site 74 if you are able to reserve in advance. It has lake view on 3 sides and a larger lot than most other sites. You would be able to launch a kayak or canoe from any lakeside site. Every site has water, electric, campfire ring and picnic table.
Arrival: The road into the campsite (Hwy UU) was recently re-paved, so it was a very smooth drive into the park. We arrived without reservations on a Tuesday and were able to get a lake view site from Tuesday to Friday morning. Park attendants were incredibly helpful and proactive about finding us a great site.
Restrooms: I used the shower house once and found them incredibly clean. Water pressure was good, temperature was lukewarm, push button system.
Reception: Verizon service worked well at each site. We were able to stream Netflix and HBO Go here with no problems.
FYI... Table Rock lake is beautiful, but please watch your loved ones if they go for a swim. Two teenagers drowned in the lake while we were here :(
Other things...
-There's a dump station on the way into the park. Non-resident fee is $5 to dump
-There's only one dumpster on site
-There's a playground area and volleyball net near site 14
-Twin Island Market (~3 miles from the park) has a laundromat, basic laundry supplies and a decent variety of liquor. Most beer and wine was standard Coors, Budweiser. They had diesel here for a decent price
-We checked out nearby Table Rock State Park and it was basically a parking lot surrounded by trees. I would give that park 2 stars.

Stay on the peninsula if you come. You will not want to leave.
If you have kayaks, canoes, jet skis or a boat you'll feel like a millionaire.
Best cell phone signal I have ever had without a booster while camping.
The beach is rocky, bring water shoes if you plan on swimming from there. There is a sand volleyball court. You can drop a kayak in from your site, but if you have jet skis or a boat the boat ramp is literally a stone's throw from your site.
I could stay here a couple weeks and be totally comfortable.

We canceled a reservation at an RV park which was charging us $139 for 3 nights when we got luck and found an open site at Old Highway 86 Campground and paid $10.50 per night with the senior card. A beautiful, clean site that is level. Water & Electric at each site and a common dump station. Our site was in the middle of the loop but we were not disappointed as be had a view of the view in either direction. The T-Mobile celluar signal was great. We watch TV on a Firestick with no buffering at all. We would absolutely come back hear again. You can't beat Army Core of Engineers campgrounds for beauty or price.

We had a gorgeous site near the end of the park where we were surrounded by water. Would never consider staying anywhere else on Table Rock Lake after this experience! Had a generous back in site with lovely picnic table and firepit overlooking the lake. The park attendants were super nice and friendly. The park was clean as a whistle. Our site was EW and there is a nice wide dump station near the park gate. Just a great place to sit back and relax or a great home base for exploring Table Rock Lake, the Ozarks and even Branson which I found to be somewhat of a tourist trap, but I am sure others enjoy it! OTA TV was great. Cell Coverage was excellent on both my ATT and TMo devices. Wish we could have stayed longer. Also very quite at night...

We absolutely loved it here. So Peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed watching the boats speed by on Table Rock Lake and many people were fishing. Next time we will bring our kayaks. We also enjoyed just sitting on the bank with our feet in the warm water. The Branson Belle even came by our campsite. Very clean and well kept. Kudos to the staff!
