“preserving the cultures of Tibet & Mongolia”
The TMBCC was founded in Bloomington, Indiana by Thubten Jigme Norbu, brother of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet. Under the leadership of Venerable Arjia Rinpoche, it nurtures and preserves the cultures of Tibet and Mongolia. Our present programs are two-fold in nature: cultural and religious. Our cultural programs include our annual events such as Losar Celebration, Commemoration of Tibetan Uprising Day, Mongolian Nadam Festival, Tibetan Summer Camp, Mongolian Summer Camp, Benefit Performances for Tibetan and Mongolian Youth, and Tibetan and Mongolian Art Exhibits. In addition, we put on special programs at the request of community organizations, Tibetan sponsors, and Mongolian sponsors.
Reviews
Absolutely amazing place. Very impressive property and grounds, relaxing and educational. The Dalai Lama actually keeps am apartment here and has stayed here 7 times.
Absolutely stunning! The grounds are free to wonder as you gaze at the several large and colorful sculptures. In the main building you can view incredible artwork and huge, detailed butter sculptures. Around the back of the land is a pond where the friendly Koi Fish help you ponder the world or just enjoy a bit another cultures beauties.
One of the incredible religious "wonders" of the United States. People travel from around the world to check this place out, so if you happen to be in Bloomington don't miss it. The grounds themselves are incredibly beautiful, and a great place to find tranquility for an afternoon or morning.
