“the world’s first KOA”

The world's first KOA invites you to its lovely setting along the Yellowstone River. Admire the soothing view from the campground's spacious landscaped Patio RV Sites. Along with handling even the largest RVs, these luxurious sites feature full hookups, cable TV, fire rings, umbrella tables and even porch swings! Head over to Pistol Pete's Outdoor BBQ in summer for a tasty Western meal, then stop by the campground store to browse the Montana crafts. Stay connected to friends and family with free Wi-Fi. Of course, there's plenty of fishing, biking and hiking near the campground. History buffs will want to make the half-hour drive to Pompeys Pillar National Monument, where explorer William Clark carved his initials in 1806, and to the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, an hour's drive southeast. Come and stay in the Deluxe Cabins! Limited services April 1 - April 30 and October 1 - October 31. Pool: Memorial Weekend - Labor Day Weekend. Max pull thru: 100 feet.

Nice established KOA. Toilets and showers were clean and well kept. Very peaceful with lots if amenities for the kids-pool and play areas. Tent sites are nice and grassy. Shade trees all over. Rv sites have homey feel with their patios and swings.

We  have a reservation for the Billings KOA for tomorrow night, and really wanted to be able to visit and stay there. But there is a severe wind advisory for most of Wyoming tomorrow and so we cannot safely travel with our camper across the state to get to Billings. The Billings KOA was not sympathetic and not at all caring or kind. They just keep stating policy that we lose all our $, since the cancelation is less than 48 hours. It has taught us the lesson to avoid KOAs and this campground in particular. A different campground for tonight was kind and issued a refund. But not the Billings KOA. So unless you have the powers to change the weather, I recommend avoiding this campground and KOA.

Very nice KOA. If you’re a first timer just know that all KOA’s are not this fancy.

Close to the city area for restaurants, bars etc. for us it was a little too close -if you prefer more remote areas. BUT it was great to visit the first KOA ever!
Great pool and mini golf. Nice river I’m back of KOA accessible via path. Bring an umbrella and beach towels! There is a sandy area to relax - spotted no one there for two days.

Laundry mat and store with necessary camping ‘stuff’.

Usually pretty packed so make sure you book in advance! Lots are also somewhat small but surprisingly cheap.

Great for families. Nice pool and mini golf course. Beautifully maintained grounds. Easy dump site. Tight turns to get into site! Our neighbor wasn’t able to make his turn and had to be switched to a different site. Great trees; however, limited ability to extend awning at our site. Had a great time riding bikes around the park.

This was my family’s first time staying at a KOA & we would definitely stay again. We are traditional tent campers, used to the barest of campsites with no electricity (in fact, if there’s a latrine, we’d consider ourselves lucky 🍀😂).

For ~$41 we got a sizable plot with a designated fire pit and picnic table with enough room to park our van. They offered dinner and breakfast on site, but we chose to go to a nearby dominoes and haul back some pizza (which we ate around the campfire) and breakfasted off-site once we tore our tent down.

The amenities were incredible! High end showers and toilets (beautifully tiled & very clean🤩), laundry, outdoor swimming pool, mini golf ($5/persons), playground, and a dog park...the Yellowstone River is nearby for you to swim/fish at your own risk.
The staff was super friendly.

Highly recommend!

Beautiful KOA. Clean. Had everything we needed after a long day traveling. A little BBQ restaurant, ice cream shop, swimming and a brand new mini golf!
