Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on October 13, 2018I have a car and road was easily accessible. Few larger rocks in road but go around and your fine. Very rustic and quiet. Can't wait to go back. No kids just plain nature and relaxation. There is cell phone service in spots of the woods. Well marked sites clear state rules.

I spent three days and two nights at site number 9. A very large pull in site that would fit most rigs. Camping is allowed only at designated numbered sites which are well-spaced apart and private. Most sites though would only accommodate van or tent campers. Of the three or so 'RV' sites, access involves a bit of a dip to cross.
I would definitely stay here again. Putting up with constant road noise from Route 3 is a minor distraction considering the proximity to major attractions.

Frist we planed to camp at Gale River, but it was full!
Here the camp site 1 was available so we let the fifth wheel there and we went to give a look for the other site.
We choose site 5, perfect fit to us.
Front of the site 5, is the departure to go on Haystack Mountain. We took 3 hours to make the hike. Really good view.
No picnic table on site, I like when they have.
Good space between site, very good privacy
Cell and internet was intermittent, but good enought

There are 11 campsites only about half of them you'll be able to get an RV into, car and truck camping would be OK. There is a big dip for the road to the campsites. My 19' trailer bottomed out trying to get into #10. Nice and quiet, just occasionally traffic on the dirt rod going to the trail head. No opportunity for solar, as I was completely in the canopy, most sites are like this. No reservations, first come first serve. Saturday on a rainy weekend there were still 3 spots open. Not a lot of room to turn around if you go past site 11, so scout ahead if you can. I was able to get 2 bars 4GLTE On Sprint and 4 bars when I used my cell phone booster pointing south. Site 11 is at about 1800 feel elevation and 10 degrees cooler than 1000 feet. I will be back.

Well we enjoyed our stay here, but there was a few things that would have made it much more enjoyable
Firstly - the site area wasn't super clean. Too much toilet paper and feces down off the site. A diy toilet (bucket/seat) is less than $20 at walmart. Either that or bury your waste like requested, it's easy to be far less enjoyable for this alone and such a inconsiderate thing. Common sense applies here -leave no trace
Second- highly trafficked area. Wow, I couldn't believe how fast people speed down the road and how many cars were lined up at the end near the trailhead. Another spoil of the trip
The area is very quiet otherwise. It's mostly shaded and not far from town. All in all we enjoyed ourselves otherwise, but if either of those mentioned things got any worse, the second trip would be the last

This was a lovely, secluded spot. We used it a a launching pad to enjoy much of what is offered in the White Mountains. We biked and hiked nearby. Easy access into the area and not to hard to find. We travel with a 20 foot camper. No issues getting in. We checked out many of the sites and they all seemed very inviting! Super quiet!
We were there in October of 2020.

Great area with 6-8 camping sites all spread out - lots of privacy. Some sites you can drive onto and some have rocks blocking off the site with parking next to the road. Was pretty busy, so it may be hard to get a spot. Signal was spotty - we have a WeBoost and got 3 bars of Verizon LTE with it. Without the WeBoost, it was 1 bar or no bars. A couple of hiking trails nearby and a river you can take a dip in. Rangers did patrol so don’t camp where there’s no camping signs.
