Easy on and off I-77. RV designated parking on the south side of the round cultural center building. Other than the road noise from I-77 pretty quiet, and even the road noise wasn't bad in the middle of the night. We had our windows open because it was warm but closed the bedroom windows in the middle of the night and it was quieter Parking is level and we didn't unhook.
A wonderful stop, at a cultural center that has beautiful art and other things all made in WV. There is a cafeteria style restaurant with a surprisingly diverse menu, and all you can eat breakfast on Sunday mornings. The bathrooms are spotless. Unfortunately, it closes at 8pm, however, there is a very nice 24 hr. truck stop withing walking distance, with fast food, groceries, ice, gas and showers. We will be back every time we are in the area. Highly recommended. Overnight parking was free in a quiet RV designated lot.
This is our halfway stopping point while traveling to the Smoky Mountains. You can either park in the rest area or up in the Tamarack parking lot. Plenty of food choices, slightly higher than normal prices due to being basically a turnpike rest-stop. Fuel prices are normally only a few cents more per gallon. Very clean and good lighting at night. Frequently patrolled by the West Virginia Highway Patrol, who are always very friendly and helpful. Plenty of areas to walk your pets. You can expect some semi-truck traffic during the night. if this is bothersome just move to the upper parking area.
This is a great stop for my fellow RVers. Tamarack offers travelers and locals the “Best of West Virginia”. Free overnight parking is available in the RV parking area. Check out the authentic art, crafts, jewelry, and one of a kind gifts made by West Virginia artisans during your stop. Fresh water fill and a dump station, both free, are located at the adjacent West Virginia Travel Plaza.
I don't have much to add that others haven't mentioned. The dump (and fill) station is down the hill a bit towards the gas station but you can easily see it on google maps etc. Very nice to have a dedicated space for RVs separate from semi-trucks. Worth mentioning there is a cracker barrel and other places nearby so its a good place to aim for and you have plan b and plan c within a mile.
The travel plaza (truck stop) nearby is not really that clean (when we went at least) and the prices are pretty high. They have a captive audience in several hundred truckers every night who are out of hours and need a place to sleep. So take advantage of the spot, but rely on your own rig for food and beverages.
Pulled in at 8:30. Other campers were spaced out nicely. Leveled up no problem. Feels very safe. A little noise from the road but hardly noticed.
So great! This site has a lot of free overnight parking. Will totally stay here again and again. Safe, legal, and super clean. Loved this place.
Stopped here around midnight to catch some sleep before continuing on to Ohio. Place was clean, level and quiet considering highway noise and the travel plaza next door! Definitely a great little spot. There were a few others hanging there but there’s ample space!
Wonderful boondocking parking lot, travel plaza next door also has free water and free dump station! Some road noise overnight but not any worse than a Cracker Barrel. We also went into the Centee, very good food!
Overnight parking available in the Cultural Center RV and Bus parking lot. Quick and easy on/off RT64. Quiet and felt secure with a few other RVs parked overnight. The Tamarack Travel Center is close by which has clean water, RV dump site and air.
