Confirmed by 5 users | Last reported on June 12, 2023The 2-mile road into the campground is narrow, hilly, and curvy, but we managed it successfully by going slowly in our 1-ton dually/38-foot 5th wheel combo.
Would not recommend the drive for anything much bigger. In fact, RV length is limited to 40' by the campground.
The park itself is worth that tricky little drive. We stayed for just over a week in April, and thought it was one of the prettiest state parks we've visited -- in any state. Very, very peaceful, with wooded sites that offer the type of camping experience we far prefer to "parking lot style" RV parks.
Limited wifi (at office/store, but not at camp sites)
Laundry (1 W, 1 D in bath house)
No sewer hookups (dump station on site)

Most recent stay was July 6th 2017 – I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop” style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area.
This was an overnight stop for us; a little difficult to reach due to hwy 307 off I-64 is very hilly with sharp curves but after reaching the park, it didn’t matter. Some grassy/graveled sites are scattered on a hillside, and a challenge to reach while others are lower down in the flat valley. The restroom/shower building is perched on top of the hill and not immediately adjacent to most accessible sites and ours was in the flat valley so not close to it as we would have liked. That being said, this was a government operated park and was a typical building with painted cement block walls and cement floors albeit the building was newer and modern – it was nice. It was roomy inside with ample # of sinks and shower stalls. Each stall had rubber floor mat in the shower, but it have been better if they had been in the adjacent changing area when you exit shower. Water was hot and pressure good. Bench in changing area was nice convenience, but only 1 hook for towels and clothes so needed more.
The communal sink area was spacious and had ample # of sinks – and a nice convenience was the paper towels so you could tidy up after using the sinks. Missing were hooks between the mirrors a convenience for your hand towel.
The campground overall was well maintained and groomed with nice large and level sites on the flat valley covered with mixture of grass and gravel included water and electric with nice dump station as you exit the park.

Stayed at a tent site in May of 2017. Fresh cool air, nice overnight sleep and rest. Tent site has picnic table, fire ring and tent pad. Very quiet, beautiful park. Great hiking!
Bathhouse was clean, large, with flush toilets and hot water showers. Camp Host was friendly.
Challenges: Tent sites are a walk to the bathhouse. You walk out of the tent loop, a little down the camp road, then into loop with the bathhouse. Not a bad walk, but a walk.
Would recommend RV site, which has electric and water for $2 more - $30 a night. And your in the loop with the bathhouse.
Great camp ground for an overnight rest and refresh!

We were here for an overnight. It was great. Beautiful big trees. Quiet. Nice bathrooms and shower house. Very clean. Not many people camping here. For our 22 ft motorhome, access on the steep winding road was no problem.

Enjoyed our stay here in the late fall (last week they were open in October). Excellent clean bathrooms with showers and outdoor kitchen for washing dishes. Variety of spots with woods, full sun or partial. Variety of back in and pull through. Nice area for tents as well. Beautiful lake for fishing and lots of trails. Plenty of friendly deer. As it was late fall and a weekday it was very quiet and peaceful. Will come here again for sure.

We agree with the previous reviews. This is a gem! Quiet, clean, friendly staff, lovely setting, and spacious sites. TMobile was a little weak, but we were still able to email, surf the web and watch some YouTube. We loved the hiking trails in the park, but there a lot to do and see within 30-40 minutes as well. We’ll be back!

Typical state park. No full hook ups but for $33 can’t complain. Sites seem mostly level. With a bigger camper you might want to come in from route 19. Nice friendly staff.

It was a small (being the number of sites), quiet, clean park. It was 2 miles off interstate, the sites were pretty level and they were easy to get into. There are a number of hikes within the park as well as a lake. They have one dump station but having so few sites the dump was pretty quick. We had Verizon service but I didn't pay attention to the bars or 4g since we had wifi for surfing. So my information is a guess on the low side. I spent a few nights out doing astro stuff and it was a pretty good spot to be.

Reserved site 19 for our 1-night stopover but the staff call a day before our arrival to ask if we could switch to site #1 (both pull thru's) because the tenants in site 19 wanted to extend their stay without moving. Site 1 had some leveling issues but nothing as bad as site 19. The road to the park was a tight winding two-lane country road with a few steep sections for a 37' class A with toad but do-able. Site #1 was gravel, 50amp with water no sewer U-shaped pull-thru could have had a wider ark but that's me just being picky. Had to block the rear tire to get up to level just to set my jacks. Didn't get to check out the restrooms. Nice quiet peaceful park. Saw the dump station but didn't use it.
