“built in 1853”
Tidalholm was constructed by Edgar Fripp as a summer home to avoid the heat on his St. Helena Island plantation. It was owned by his brother James during the Civil War, when it was used as a hospital. It was used as a guesthouse throughout the 20th century. It's most famous as the filming location for "The Big Chill."
