Acadia National Park

An unique national park that combines coastal and mountain feelings. Whether you are a beach person or a mountain person, you'll have plenty things to do at Acadia.
Top priorities if you only have limited time and wanna enjoy easy hikes:
1. Ocean path trail: starting at sand beach, go pass Thunder Hole and ends in Otter cliffs. Enjoy the rustic coastal cliffs.
2. Drive to the top of Cadillac Mountain. The view is amazing
3. Jordon Pond trail: an easy stray along the pond and see the Bubbles from a distance.
4. Bubble rock: a fun place to do some creative photographs. There are three trails that leads to the Bubble rock near the summit of South Bubble, which has amazing views of the pond.
- The first is from the Bubble parking lot and is the easiest, which you need to be early in the morning to secure a spot.
- The second one through the other side of the South Summit trail and much steeper. The trail head is located at the northeast corner of Jordon Pond. This can be combined with the Jordan Pond trail by descending through the Bubble Dividend trail, which is also quiet steep.
- The third one is located near the south of Jordon Pond and actually goes to the Bubbles parking lot first.

Awesome for families--prepare to hike. The Beehive is the best for grade school kids and up--intense but short with breathtaking views. Don't miss Thunder Hole and the tide pools. Bar Harbor is often busy, but further reaches such as Southwest Harbor are quiet and charming.

Absolutely breathing in every way from the sunrises to stone bridges to Thunder Hole to eating popovers at Jordon Pond House to hiking the various peaks! By far, my FAVORITE national Park!

Been here a few times. The drive up the mountain is scary, and amazing! Just outside of the town, there is a spot in the rocks along the ocean that allows the spray to fly up in the air. The town is overcrowded with tourists in the summer, but otherwise, very cool place.

Most beautiful place in the world. Classic New England feel, great seafood, stellar local beer, breathtaking views and scenery. You must stop if you're in the state!

A bit more touristy and populated than other parks I have been to but it is beautiful especially the bays and coves on the west side which are more remote.

A beautiful place, but we were there in August and the crowds were ridiculous. We camped at Blackwoods which was a real nice Park Service campground. But the traffic and people within the park made me want to cut our trip short.

Acadia is an amazing park. I've been four times in the last three years, and I'll be going there for years to come. There's a bit of something for everyone here. Taking a drive around Park Loop Road is a convenient way to get to all the biggest sights, and you can even drive right to the top of Cadillac Mountain. The views are stunning all the way up to the top. There are hiking trails of varying difficulties. There are some hidden gems too - we stumbled across Anemone Cave (which was an exciting discovery since there aren't any signs for it and it has to be low tide to even be able to see it), and the western side of the park is a quieter retreat if the eastern side is too busy for you. I'm proud to live in a state with such a beautiful place as this park.

A couple of side notes - don't go during the middle of summer, do go in the beginning or towards the end of summer. It does get crowded in that peak summer time. Also, if you're coming from the southeastern side of Maine, I'd highly suggest skipping the highway for Rt 1. It's a bit of a slower drive, but it follows mostly along the coast and it's a scenic drive. Stop and visit (Maine's) Fort Knox for the history, and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge for the 446 ft high view!

Took our kids there and biked all over the park. Did every store in Bar Harbor. The food was awesome at every crab and lobster shack. Great fun
