“oceanside camping and recreation”
At the Bar Harbor/Oceanside KOA, watch the sky melt into sunset pastels from your waterfront site. With 3,500 feet of Atlantic shoreline, the campground is a short distance from Acadia National Park's 1,530-foot Cadillac Mountain, Rockefeller's carriage roads and historic hiking trails. Enjoy nature's beauty as you explore marine wonders in saltwater tide pools or watch the seals fish in the bay. Take advantage of all the outdoor pleasures Acadia National Park offers, such as fishing, swimming, bird-watching, canoeing, biking, paddleboarding and more. The island shuttle (mid-June to Columbus Day) allows campers easy access to the local area. Discounts are available for whale watching, deep sea fishing, guided kayak trips, bike rentals, Oli's trolley and much more. Max pull thru: 95 feet.
You're paying for location, plus amenities for kids. This is a very busy campground. Nevertheless, lovely setting right by the ocean. Far north end of Mount Desert Island, so convenient to both Bar Harbor to the south and big-box shopping to the north. We were in site 131, a pull through. Was open and sunny - no shade, but still only got 2 of 3 western arc Dish satellites since those satellites are low in the sky and the trees between our site and the ocean blocked one of the satellites. Nice patio with fire ring with built in grill, plus barbecue and table. Site was level enough, and long enough for MH and toad. However, exiting was too tight to hook up at site, so had to do that near dump station. WiFi, cable, and water pressure were all good. Nice dog park. On site outdoor lobster restaurant was pretty good. All the staff were very friendly and helpful - definitely some of the nicest RV park people we've ever met. Mosquitoes were kinda bad - but repellent works well enough for that. Since we are retired and don't have kids, we might opt for a more adult-oriented campground next time. If you have kids, they will love this place.
Get a waterfront spot if you can plan early enough! This campground is absolutely gorgeous and plentiful in amenities- camp store, beach, view, free shuttle to bar harbor, activities (tie dyeing!), laundry and full hookups! Worth the visit!
Had a very nice site and time at the Bar Harbor KOA. The lobster roll and lobster dinner on site was a real plus.
