“delightful desert digs”
Whether you are walking or motorcycling across the Great Basin you'll want to stop here. The Silver Jack Inn is located just 5 miles off US Rt. 50 (The Loneliest Road in America) at the foot of Mt. Wheeler (13,063’) in Baker, NV near Great Basin National Park and home of Lehman Caves. The Motel has been here since 1949 and the LectroLux cafe is housed in a 1905 mining grocery store which sold food, tires, clothing tools - you name it. Some of the glass and most of the lumber is original. When the mine closed in 1913 the building was moved to Baker. Maybe they'll move the Empire State building to Baker... The LectroLux Cafe has become noted for its eclectic personality and some of the best food in rural anywhere! Our customers say we certainly have the best pizza in rural America. For Example: "Little did we expect to find the delights of the Silver Jack Inn during our trip to the Great Basin National Park. The food was great. The booze selection was to die for- all my favorites! The room was cozy and quiet. The other guests were friendly. Lots of dogs and cats, too."
The LectroLux Cafe is now Kerouac's. Great breakfast. They serve dinner as well.
Now the Stargazer Inn
Even if you don't stay the night here, you can grab a simple breakfast and a to-go lunch for the road at the cafe-- and they make a mean cup of coffee, too.
