Highlands Nature Sanctuary is a wondrous place, abounding with cliffs and cascades, seeps and springs, breathtaking vistas, lush plant growth and a few small caves and grottos. Bring the family out for a day and follow our three self-guided trails leading into the enchantingly beautiful Rocky Fork Gorge and through majestic forest giants in a primeval beech woods. Also, come and learn about the Eastern Temperate Forest at the Appalachian Forest Museum and shop for unique books, crafts and gifts at the Book and Nature Shop. Picnic shelter available and please, no pets.
